Melvin “Red” Morrison

Melvin “Red” Morrison, 82, of North Gantt Street, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. A native of Cleveland County, he was born January 11, 1931, son of the late Robert and Esther Ledford Morrison. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two children, Richard Morrison and Donna Sue Spriggs; one grandson, Steven Spriggs, Jr.; three brothers, Nolan, David, and Joe Morrison; one sister, Catherine Morrison.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Clara Davis Morrison of the home; one son, Phillip Morrison of Belmont; two daughters, Pam Morrison Ward and husband Thomas of Elizabethton, TN and Julie Morrison of Kings Mountain; four sisters, Alda Crump of Lincolnton, Elizabeth Luckadoo of Forest City, Mozelle West of Gastonia, and Gail Swafford of Mooresboro; three brothers, Billy Ray Morrison of Stanley, Willy Fay Morrison of Alexander Mills, and John Morrison of Mooresboro; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Judy Ramkissoon.

SERVICES:  A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at Family Worship Center in Kings Mountain.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends 6-8:00 pm Friday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain and other times at his home.

CLERGY: Rev. Roger Woodard and Rev. Lloyd Swafford will officiate.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery
