Michael Lemuel Hollifield, age 69 of Eaker Circle died on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at his residence. He was born on February 4, 1946 in Lincoln County to the late Bergan Webb and Nellie Stroupe Hollifield. Mike was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Cherryville Masonic Lodge #505 A.F. & A.M. He was a former mechanic with Carolina Freight and ABF. Mike was an avid Clemson fan and a Clemson University IPTAY member.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Marsha Hoyle Hollifield; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin Fox and E. Brice "Bubba" Fox, Jr., Stacy Redford and James P. Redford, and Caryl Ann Hollifield Murphy and Jeremy Murphy all of Cherryville; grandchildren, Seth Fox, FC-3 Nicholas R. "Nick" Childers, Coleman Childers, Dalton Fox, and Bailey Childers; siblings, Ben Hollifield of Ocoee, FL, Wayne Hollifield and wife, Shirley of Lincolnton, Deci Winkler of Hudson, Kaye Craven and husband, Charlie of Charlotte, Tony Hollifield of Nevada, Nora McIntyre of Cherryville, Roger Hollifield and wife, Sue of Cherryville, and Barbara Hensley of Cherryville; sister-in-law, Rita Huffman of Cherryville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites conducted by the Cherryville Masonic Lodge #505 A.F. & A.M. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral & Cremation Services.
