Michael "Mike" John Roebuck, 65, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Mike was born June 1, 1949 in Shelby, NC. He was the son of the late Albert Roebuck and the late Jeanette Roebuck Bost. Mike attended Shelby City Schools, graduating from Shelby High School in 1967. He received a football scholarship from Wofford College where he graduated in 1972. Mike obtained his Master's in Business Administration from East Carolina University. He was the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services at Gardner Webb University where he cared for the student athletes as if they were his own children. Throughout his life, Mike competed in marathons and triathlons, even an ironman, training daily on his bicycle or running.

In addition to his parents, Mike was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Roebuck Morgan and brother, Thomas W. Roebuck.

Mike is survived by his brother, Alan and wife Janet and children, Katie and her husband Fred, their children, Alexis, Alan and Kobe; and son Jim and his wife Cassie, their children Makenzie and Madison.

He is also survived by nephews, Jim and Joe Morgan, Eric and Billy Thomas and their families; and nieces, Eleanor Morgan and Leslie Nix and family; and many cousins, friends and student athletes he considered family.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday March 8, 2015 at 2:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Shelby with The Rev. Deacon, Pam Bright and Dr. Tracy Jessup officiating . The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall.
