Mickey "Mick" Dean Abernathy, 57, of 4241 Fallston Road, Shelby, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.
Born September 4, 1956 in Lincoln County, he was a son of the Margaret Haynes Scoggins. Mick loved fishing and was a former member of Pine Grove Golf Club.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Abernethy.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Teresa Tillman Abernathy; three sons, Mickey Abernathy, Jr. and Megan Bowman of Fallston; Colt Abernathy and Anna Boyles of North Brook and Dusty Abernathy of Fallston; daughter, Margo Abernathy and Kyle Alcide of Jacksonville, FL; one grandson, Mickey Abernathy, III (Bo Dean); two brothers, Tim Abernethy and wife, Cindy of
Winston-Salem and Jeff Scoggins of Dallas; two sisters, Kathy Blackburn of Shelby and Amy Crawford and husband, Steve of Gastonia; mother and father-in-law, Neal and Beth Tillman of Belwood; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tiffany and Jason Cox of Grover, Terry Tillman of Hartsville, SC, Tanya and Jeff Earl of Belwood and Tad and Evie Tillman of Crouse; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, Fallston
Officiating: Rev. Justin Williamson
Burial: will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston
