Mildred Ann Parker
Miss Mildred Ann Parker, age 77, of Self St., died November 9, 2013 at Hospice of Wendover in Shelby.  Mildred was born on June 1, 1936 in Habersham County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Odis Cliffton Parker, Sr. and Martha Traber Parker.
 
Mildred worked for a number of years as secretary and bookkeeper for Nolan’s Concrete in Gastonia, then she worked at Gaston County Social Services as a case work until her retirement.  She was an American Red Cross Volunteer.  During her years with the Red Cross she was sent to over twenty U.S. sites to help people that were devastated by a disaster.  Mildred was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness since 1953.  She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to everyone that knew her.  “Mimi” as she was called by all of her nieces and nephews will never be forgotten because of all the memories she left behind.
 
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Alda Beam; two brothers, Thomas Parker and Dan Parker; two nephews, Marc Beam and Michael Parker; and a great niece Mandy Parker.
 
Survivors include her brother, O.C. Parker, Jr. (Deane) of Cherryville; sister, Sarah Jane Sigmon (Darril) of Cherryville; sisters-in-law, Bonnie N. Parker of Cherryville and Barbara C. Parker of Waco; nine nieces and nephews; nineteen great nieces and nephews; and twenty-one great great nieces and nephews.
 
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Kingdom Hall on Bessemer City Road, 2065 Overhead Bridge Rd. Gastonia, with Donald Johnson and Victor Clinton officiating.  Burial will be private.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 prior to the service.
