Blacksburg -- Mildred Florence Martin, 87, best remembered as a loving daughter, wonderful sister, treasured mother, greatest Maw-Maw, and beloved aunt and friend, passed away Saturday, January 19th, 2013, at her home.
Born in Blacksburg, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Nancy Jane Davis Peterson. Mrs. Martin retired as a nursing assistant, was a long-time employee of The Emory 5&10 store, and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
Mrs. Martin is survived by three sons, Mike Martin of the home, Steve Martin and wife, Brenda, of Blacksburg, and David Martin and wife, Gloria, of Hickory Grove; two daughters, Linda Childers of Blacksburg and Carol Martin of the home; three sisters-in-law, Jesse Bell and Edith Moss of Blacksburg and Betty Mills of Gaffney; 13 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Lee Martin; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Eugene and Louise Martin; a granddaughter, Leslie Jeanne Martin; two brothers, Paul Peterson and Willard Peterson; and a sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Jack Little.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 21, 2013 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22, at 2:00 PM at Lighthouse Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Gregory and Rev. Greg Little officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. David Martin, II, Kevin Martin, Jeff Martin, Michael Martin, Bobby Martin, Shane Childers, Bryan Childers, Johnny Martin, and 1st Sgt. Jeremy Martin will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Martin will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.

The family will be at the residence, 205 East Lime Street, Blacksburg.
