Mildred Swafford Hamrick

Mildred Swafford Hamrick, 87, of Burke Rd., died Wed., Sept. 17, 2014, at Hospice at Wendover.  A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late James Lee and Gladys McKee Swafford.  She was a member of Sharon U.M.C. where she had served on many committees and taught the adult ladies Sunday school class for a number of years.  She was a former member of the Shanghai V.F.D. Ladies Auxiliary, where she worked many long hours on chicken pie supper fund raisers.  She worked in sales and textiles in her early years, and until she became disabled in 2013, she worked at the family business, B&H Florist.  She loved quilting, crocheting, and working in her yard.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Carillon Assisted Living, White Oak Manor, and Hospice at Wendover, for all their love and care they extended.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Yates Hamrick; infant granddaughter, Jacquetine Denise Bridges; and son-in-law, Bill Fergusson.

SURVIVED:  She is survived by her daughters, Annette Bridges of Shelby and Janice Fergusson of Chapin, SC; grandchildren, Mike Bridges and wife Julia, Lisa Carr and husband Mike; great-grandsons, who she loved dearly, Chad Bridges and Luke Carr, all of Shelby.

FUNERAL SERVICES:  Friday, 4pm, at Sharon United Methodist Church

VISITATION:  The family received friends, Thursday evening at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at the home.

BURIAL: Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery
