KINGS MOUNTAIN-Millage Carrington Spires, 73, passed away Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Wendover Hospice House. A native of Palm Beach County, Florida, he was the son of the late Perl Carrington and Hettie Dykes Spires. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired US Postal worker after 35 years. After he retired he and Libby moved back to Florida for several years.During that time, he worked part time as a Funeral Associate at Hooper Funeral Home in Inverness, Florida, for five years under the direction of Dwight Hooper.

He is survived by his sweet wife of over 40 years Elizabeth "Libby" Hester Spires of the home; one son, Stuart Spires and wife Tracy of Iva, S.C.; one sister, Mary Rebecca Starks of Clewiston, Florida; two grandchildren, Cameron Spires and Katie Spires.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Christian Freedom Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Michael Chambers, and the family will receive friends after the service at the church.
