Milton Huitt Reep

Milton Huitt Reep, 80, passed away Thursday, September 27 after a year-long battle with leukemia.  He was born April 30, 1933, as the fifth of eight children to Pearl and Jones Reep of Lincoln County.  Huitt is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Lantz Reep, of Kings Mountain; son Mike Reep and his wife, Sharon, of Raleigh; son Mark Reep and his wife Kelley, of Cary.   He also has four grandchildren:  Emily Reep, Casey Reep, John Reep, and Jojo Reep.

A graduate of Union High School in Vale, N.C., Huitt was a veteran of the U. S Army in the Korean War.  The G.I .Bill allowed him to attend Appalachian Teacher’s College in Boone, N.C. (now Appalachian State University) where he obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education and went on to teach elementary education in Gastonia.  He then changed careers, first attending the Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Administration, and then leading hospitals in Burgaw, Sanford, Smithfield, and Kings Mountain.  He was a lifetime member of the N.C. Hospital Association; a thirty year Rotarian; a Paul Harris fellow; and an active volunteer with the American Red Cross,  Habitat for Humanity, and as a member of Central United Methodist Church.

 After retirement, Huitt enjoyed beekeeping, farming, golfing, and working part-time for the U.S. Postal Service.  He also stayed very involved with his extended family through Reep, Rhyne, and Lantz reunions.

VISITATION - The family will receive friends, Monday, 12:30-2PM, at Central United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain.
