Minerva Synergy’s Tenth Annual Art Show
Cleveland County Memorial Library is pleased to host Minerva Synergy’s Tenth Annual Art show, beginning October 3 through December 2, 2013.  A Meet-the Artist reception will be held at the library at 6:30 on October 8 and the public is invited to attend.
Minerva Synergy lost an extremely talented and treasured friend, Bonnie Price in May of this year.  Bonnie had been an active and inspirational member of the group for 10 years.  This exhibit is dedicated to Bonnie in memory of her tremendous gifts, her constant friendship and her many contributions to the arts in our community.
Minerva Synergy was organized by Susan Doggett in 2000 as a group for women artists in the area.  The former Synergy Studios and Gallery in downtown Shelby was an outgrowth of the group.  This year’s exhibit will feature the work of four members.
Jean Mews works with various media and her work is inspired by a spiritual creative flow.  Jean Silver also works in several media including painting, book arts and most recently Zentangle inspired work.  Carol Gress’ interests include ceramics, stained glass and others, but her current focus is in recycled textiles and embroidery.  Pam Perkins, a retired Gaston County elementary art teacher is a master in many areas, but for this show she will display bags fashioned from brain-tanned hide, hand beaded in Native American traditional style, as well as hand-made books.
The exhibit will include both 3-d pieces, in the display window by the front door and 2-d pieces hung in the library gallery.
Please enjoy this exhibit on your library visits and come to the Artist’s Reception to meet these very talented women on October 8 at 6:30.
