Minnie Jane Bridges, 98, 169 Ball Park Road, Lawndale, NC, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2013, at her residence.

She was born on December 27, 1914, in Cleveland Co., NC, to the late Esper Ledford and Cora Weaver Ledford.  Mrs. Bridges worked for Lilly Mill for 48 years and was a member of Lilly Memorial Baptist Church.  She loved to read, work puzzles and to bake cakes especially Granny Cakes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Ransom Bridges; two sons, James L. Bridges and Bobby G. Bridges; two brothers, Leroy “Buddy” Ledford and Pinkney Ledford and two sisters, Ethel Fisher and Eva Lail.

Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette Bivins of Lawndale and Peggy Russ and husband, Vernon of Shelby; son, Tommy Bridges and wife, Debbie of Shelby; two sisters, Mary Margaret Sain and husband, Blaine of Shelby and Hettie Faulkner of Shelby; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and thirty-three great-great grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Stamey Funeral Home.  At other times the family will be at the home of Jeannette Bivins, 169 Ballpark Road, Lawndale.

Funeral: 3:00 PM Friday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel.
