York -- Mitchell Leddon Akins, 77, of 225 Charlotte Street, passed away Wednesday, September 28th, 2016.

Known as "The Rambling Man," he was the husband of Nancy Martin Akins and the son of the late Sam Akins and Bertha Mitchell Akins.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Akins is survived by two sons Michael and Mark Akins, both of Easley; two daughters, Lynn Neely of Charlotte and Ann Brown of Gastonia; and numerous step-children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on thursday, September 29th, 2016, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 30th, 2016 at 4:00 pm in the Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jamie Billings officiating. Travis Smith, William Smith, Randy Smith, Matthew Smith, Jerry Martin, and Kenny Murray will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be at the residence and at the home of Eula Martin, 126 Millwood Lane, Gaffney, SC 29340.
