Crouse - Mr. Morris Spencer Smith, Jr., 90 of Hephzibah Church Road, passed
away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Carolinas Healthcare Systems -
Cleveland.

Mr. Smith was born on January 27, 1927 in Rockingham County, NC a son of the
late Morris S. Smith, Sr. and Della Newton Smith. He was a retired
maintenance worker from Gaston Memorial Hospital. Mr. Smith was a member of
Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville and was active in the Keenagers. He
served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Hoopaugh Smith of the home and her
children. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church from 12:45 to 1:45PM on
Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Mt.
Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Key officiating.

Burial will be at St. Paul Baptist Church in Casar with military honors
provided by the Cherryville American Legion Post 100 Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 112 Mt. Zion Church Road,
Cherryville, NC 28021.
