Mrs. Jetty Leah Ledford Carpenter

Mrs. Jetty Leah Ledford Carpenter, age 85 died Friday May 3, 2013 at Wendover Hospice. Born in Cleveland County, on August 22, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Columbus Washington and Claudia Drewery Ledford. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Carpenter;  siblings, Horace Ledford, Sadie Turner, Judy Eaton, Eloise Scism, Peggy Ledford, Jimmy Ledford and Robert Ledford.  Jetty was a member of Mulls Memorial Baptist Church and retired from Dover Mill after 40 years of service as a draw-in hand. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed watching nascar and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

 

Jetty is survived by two sons, Bobby Carpenter and wife Patti of Shelby, and Don Carpenter and fiancée Julie Anderson of Nashville TN; siblings, Eddie Ledford and wife Patsy of Shelby, David Ledford and wife Pam of Gastonia, Tommy Ledford and wife Linda of Cherryville, Linda Terhorst and husband Heinrich of Cherryville, Patsy Harris and husband Clyde of Shelby, Jean Richards of Shelby; sister-in-law, Shirley Ledford of Shelby; grandchildren, David Carpenter and wife Jessica, Ashley Almanza and husband Ray, Michael Carpenter, and Rachel Carpenter; and two great grandchildren, Carly Carpenter and Logan Almanza.

 

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00pm on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Chapel of Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Robert E. Wise officiating.  Burial will follow in Mulls Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00- 4:00pm prior to the service and other times at the home of Linda Terhorst.
