Mrs. Kathy Vickers Barbee, 59, of Shelby, died on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Boone County, West Virginia, she is the daughter of Harold Jackson and Vina Castle Vickers. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Bennett Barbee. Mrs. Barbee was a member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church where she was a children’s Sunday school teacher, a member of the church choir and a council member and volunteer of CEF. Her life was dedicated to her family and church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barbee is survived by two sons, Scott Barbee and Tad Barbee wife Jessica and her daughter Tess Barbee Cooper husband Tony all of Shelby; her sister Joni Brunette husband Tim of North Wilkesboro, NC; eight grandchildren, Lucas cooper, Gracie Cooper, Jake Cooper, Alyssa Barbee, Knox Barbee, Bryce Barbee, Braxton Tessneer and Tanner Tessneer.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Barbee will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Patterson Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Waters will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30PM on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
