Mrs. Lora Juanita Hoyle Clark

Mrs. Lora Juanita Hoyle Clark, 99, departed this life on Monday January 26, 2015 at the Kings Mountain Hospice House in Kings Mountain, NC. Born on June 1, 1915 in Lawndale, NC, she was the fifth born of eleven children to the late Pinkney and Lillie Williamson Hoyle and had a total of eighteen brothers and sisters.

She was a 1936 graduate of Cleveland High School and then furthered her education at Morristown College. Juanita worked at Shelby Hotel and Oxford Knitting and after many years of loyal service, she later retired.

Juanita was a servant of the Lord in various capacities. Her journey with the Lord was initiated by joining Philadelphia United Methodist Church until she moved her membership to Durham United Methodist Church. She served there as a member of the United Methodist Women, on the usher board and was later recognized as a mother of the church.

On December 25, 1949, Willie Clark and Juanita Hoyle were joined in holy matrimony. They lived in marital bliss for fifty years until the passing of her beloved husband in 2000.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Juanita was preceded in death by nine brothers, Ed, Dorse, Avery, John, Cethel, Lindon, Elwood, Elworth and Robert and six sisters, Laura, Minnie, Hattie, Essie, Dorothy and Ruth.

Left to cherish almost a century of memories, one daughter, Benita Geneva Tidwell of Neptune, NJ; three sons, Cephus Clark, Wilbert Clark (Teresa) and Wendell Clark (Geraldine) all of Shelby, NC; a sister, Thelma Hoyle of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Nathaniel Hoyle of Baltimore, MD and Willard Hoyle (Cynthia) of Plainfield, NJ and a sister-in-law, Cleo Hoyle of Charlotte, NC. She was the grandmother to twelve wonderful grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and was special to a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Durham United Methodist Church with Pastor Dale Sneed officiating. Burial will take place at Philadelphia United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday and at other times at the home of her son, Wendell Clark, 413 Murdock Circle in Shelby.
