Mrs. Patricia Jeter Young
Mrs. Patricia Jeter Young, 69, of 2505 Cleveland Avenue, Grover, NC, departed her earthly life on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center, in Charlotte, NC.  She was born on November 14, 1943 in York County, SC the fifth child out of seven children that were born to Earl and Robbie Ashley Jeter.

Pat graduated from Cleveland High School and furthered her education at Cleveland Community College receiving an Associate’s degree in Fashion Merchandising.  She was employed with Loy’s Men Shop in Shelby for several years and after its closing she opened her own business, Pat’s Sew Smart.

Pat enjoyed life and lived it her way.  She was a person who lived life to the fullest never letting obstacles bring her down.  Her way of thinking became even more apparent when she became a heart transplant recipient in February of 2004.  After receiving the heart, she explained that if she could make it through that, then she could make it through anything.

Pat was a member of Eskridge Grove Baptist Church where she served as Vice President of the usher board, member of the Lela Black Missionary Circle and Treasurer of the Senior Sunday School.  In addition to her church activities, she enjoyed traveling.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Jeter; her husband, Alonzo Young; a sister, Linda Jeter Sloan and a brother, William Jeter.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Robbie Ashley Jeter of Shelby; her son, Juan Cherry (Annette) of Shelby; one grandson, Terrell Cherry (Dimitra) of Ft. Bragg, NC; one granddaughter, Kristen Cherry of Shelby; a great-granddaughter, Amyla Cherry; two brothers, Robert Jeter (Brenda) and Larry Jeter both of Shelby; two sisters, Estine Pettis and Cynthia Moses both of Shelby; two aunts, Pauline Wilkerson of Gastonia, NC and Emma Goode of Greensboro, NC; a brother-in-law, Edward Sloan of Shelby; two special young men, Jamaal Wilkins of Atlanta, GA and his brother, Michael; special friends, Bernard and Liz Middleton of Charleston, SC and Ike Johnson of Shelby and a host of other relatives and friends.
