| Myrtle Coggins Ashe, 90, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. She was a native of Jackson County, NC and the daughter of the late Oscar and Alice Coggins of Cullowhee, NC. She was also preceded in death by her husband Hiram Ashe; two sons, Ernest and Haven Ashe; siblings, Fred, Leonard, Sally, Marie, Raymond, Dewey, Daisy, and Wesley Coggins and Dolly Brendle. Mrs. Ashe will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who always thought of others first.
Mrs. Ashe is survived by two sons, Elden Lee Ashe of Winston-Salem and Edwin D. Ashe and wife Ellen of Shelby; two daughter-in-laws, Yvonne Ashe and Bonita Ashe both of Shelby; a dear friend, Charlene Inman of Mt. Airy, NC; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:30pm on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Elizabeth Baptist Church. The Dr. Rit Varriale will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 3:30 prior to the service in the sanctuary. At other times the family will be at the home of Yvonne Ashe.
