Myrtle Greene Mashburn
 BOSTIC - Myrtle Greene Mashburn, of Eastwood Village, Bostic, formerly of Cliffside, wife of the late Frank Mashburn died of natural causes on October 5, 2012 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. She was 97. She is the daughter of the late Pinckney and Sara Matheney Greene. She was preceded in death by her brother, Nollie Greene and her nephews Herman and Joe Greene and niece, Elizabeth Jones. “Miss Myrtle” was well known in the community for her gift of music. She taught piano lessons for more than 70 years. During her career, in addition to teaching piano and voice lessons, she served as the choir director of Temple Baptist Church in Henrietta and later as the organist of Cliffside Baptist Church. She served for over 35 years as the pianist for the Cliffside School chorus and served for many years as the pianist for the Goodwill Singers of Cliffside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Jerry and wife Sandy of Southern Pines, NC; daughter Jane of Decatur, GA; grandson Mark and wife Megan of Alpharetta, GA; granddaughter Marianne and husband Justin Raby of Seoul, South Korea; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great, great nieces and nephews, and great, great, great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Cliffside Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Cantrell officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00pm-4:00pm on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cliffside Baptist Church Music fund, PO Box 336, Cliffside, NC 28024 or the charity of your choice.
