Myrtle Humphries Childers

Hickory Grove -- Myrtle Humphries Childers, 79, of 2037 Wilkerson Road, passed away Wednesday, December 16th, 2015, at her residence.

Born in York, she was the widow of Billy Childers and the daughter of the late Clyde and Era Humphries. Mrs. Childers retired as a seamstress and was a member of Unity Baptist Church. Mrs. Childers was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her children almost as much as her yard.

Surviving Mrs. Childers are one son, Gary Dean Childers and Elaine, of Hickory Grove; one daughter, Anne Stewart and husband, Bub, of the home; one brother, Dean Humphries and wife, Ann, of Smyrna; three sisters, Frances Moss, of Hickory Grove, Geneva Alexander, of Sharon, and Matril Ramsey and husband, Steve, of York; five grandchildren, William Robbins Jr and Cookie, Lori Anne Wray and husband, Lee, Becky Childers, David Childers, and Lacey Childers; and five great-grandchildren, Shane Reese, McKenzie Wray, Danielle Mathis, Brandon Robbins, and Miranda Wray.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Childers was preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Jean Childers, and a brother, Leon Humphries.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 20th, 2015, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Mike Goodwin officiating.
