Myrtle Lucille Carroll Bates
Mrs. Myrtle Lucille Carroll Bates, 85, of 819 Longbranch Rd., went to be with her Savior on Sept. 14, 2011 at her home.  A native of Cleveland Co., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Florence Johnson Carroll.  She retired from the Esther Mill.  She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church where she was in the Golden Circle SS Class, active in the Hillary Padgett Missions Group, and enjoyed traveling with the Golden Delights.  She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated Christian mother.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Bud” Johnson Bates; and granddaughter, Lisa Bates Barrett.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her two sons, Danny Bates and wife Geneal of Lake Junaluska, Joseph “Joe” Bates and wife Esther of Grover; two daughters, Jo Ann Bates Anderson and husband Dwain of Shelby, Vickie B. Lashley of Grover; brother, David Carroll and wife Valiree of Shelby; two sisters, Lillie Mae Styers, Diane Walters, both of Kings Mountain;five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild survive.

GRAVESIDE SERVICES: 4pm, Friday at Sunset Cemetery

VISITATION: The family will receive friends following the service, and other times at the home
