Nancy Carolyn “Pie” Dawkins Mintz

Mrs. Nancy Carolyn “Pie” Dawkins Mintz, of 120 Foxhill Drive, Kingstown, NC departed this life on Friday, January 11, 2013 at her residence.  She was born on June 16, 1947 in Cleveland County to the late Walter Thomas and Hattie Brooks Dawkins.

 

During her school days, Nancy attended Green Bethel High School.  She formerly worked at PPG Industries, Artee’s of Shelby, Gardner-Webb University and Cleveland Community College for a number of years.  Nancy was a faithful member of the Macedonia Baptist Church where she served on the kitchen committee, usher board and deaconess board and was a youth teacher and a vacation bible school teacher until her health declined.  Nancy loved the Lord, her family and her church family.

 

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Frances Dawkins Steepleton; a brother, Walter Ray Dawkins, Sr.; a nephew, Montrel Noell Pettis and a host of uncles and aunts.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, a caring and loving husband and companion of 46 years, Charlie Lebron Mintz; two daughters, Audrey Allen (fiancé Jonathan Nichols) and Marie Mintz (fiancé), Antwan Douglas) both of Shelby; two sons, André Dwayne Mintz (fiancée, Dee Stowes) of Kings Mountain, NC and Michael Jerome Mintz (fiancée, Carrie Dabbs) of Kingstown;a step-daughter, Shonetta Mintz Martin (Rev. Kenneth) of Shelby; two brothers, Norman Dawkins and Minister Dawkins (Shirley) both of Shelby; two sisters, Elizabeth Miller and Eloise Norris (John) both of Shelby; twenty-one grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a god-daughter, Jessica Pryor of Shelby; three special friends, Sparkle Frank of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ann Pryor of Shelby and Lardell Dawkins of Kingstown; four brothers-in-law, Vardell Steepleton of Kannapolis, NC, Raymond Mintz (Dorothy) and James Mintz both of Shelby and Edward McGuire of Kingstown; two sisters-in-law, Lizzie Gidney (Douglas) of Kingstown and Frances Brenda Strong (Rodney) of Kings Mountain and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Macedonia Baptist Church at 2:00 PM in Kingstown with the Rev. Willie C. Whitworth officiating.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00 PM at the church on Thursday.  Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloes.net.  Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
