Navy Seaman Devin Tyler Hamrick Completes Basic Training
Navy Seaman Devin Tyler Hamrick, son of Todd and Kim Hamrick from Shelby, NC, completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois on November 5, 2010.
During the eight week program, Hamrick completed training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, along with shipboard and aircraft safety.
The capstone event of boot camp is “Battle Stations”. This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. “Battle Stations” is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork, and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. It’s distinctly “Navy” flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a Sailor.
Devin is currently completing his Hospital Corpsman training in Great Lakes II and will continue on to the elite Fleet Marine Force (FMF) for further medical training.
Devin is a graduate of Crest High School in Shelby and attended King College in Bristol, TN from 2007 thru 2010.
Congratulations on a job well done!!
