Ned Wayne Cooksey Sr.

Boiling Springs -- Mr. Ned Wayne Cooksey Sr., 78, of 161 Stoneybrook Drive, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Cannons Campground, he was the husband of 53 years to Mildred Petty Cooksey and the son of the late James Clayton Cooksey and Elizabeth Fitzgerald Cooksey. Ned previously retired from Beverage Air and worked with the Charles Lea Center before and after his retirement. He was also proud to say that he once worked thirteen years without missing a day of work. Mr. Cooksey was a 1959 graduate of Cowpens High School, attended Spartanburg Methodist College, and served in the Army National Guard.

In addition to his wife, Mildred, Mr. Cooksey is survived by a son, Ned Wayne Cooksey Jr. and wife, Dina, of Roebuck; a daughter, Jamie Cooksey and wife, Linda, of Gaffney; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cooksey was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Leigh Cooksey Mabry, and a sister, Sandra Cooksey Cantrell.

The family will receive friends on Friday, 2nd of November, 2018, from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney. A memorial service will immediately follow at 5:00 PM in the Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Charles Lea Center, 195 Burdette Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
