Fallston PTA Fall Festival

The Fallston PTA will hold their Fall Festival Saturday, October 28, 2017, 2:00pm - 6:00pm. Admission $5; 2 and under free. Turn The Beat performs at 2:00pm; Cake Walk at 3:00pm; Elite Dance performs at 4:00pm; Cheertastic Allstars performs at 4:30pm; K-9 Unit Showing at 5:00pm. Car Show open to all, $25 Entry fee. Cleveland County Astronomical Society & Kings Mtn. Gateway Trails will be sponsoring a "Solar & Night Gazing Family Event" Saturday, October 28, 2017, 1:00pm til 10:00pm, at Gateway Trails in Kings Mountain. Free family fun and educational.

Clifford's Army Rescue Trick or Treat

Clifford's Army Rescue will be at Tractor Supply Co.,1665 E. Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC, Saturday October 28, 2017, 10:00am till 2:00pm for some Halloween fun. Bring your two and four legged kids and even adults in costume to get your picture made in front of a scary backdrop. They will have a limited amount of doggie and kiddie treat bags too. All photos will be posted on their facebook page. Donations are appreciated to help the injured, sick and/or abandoned animals in our area and beyond.

Clifford's Army Rescue's annual Santa pics and holiday bake sale will once again be on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, November 18, 2017, 10:00am till 4:00pm. Some of the best homemade desserts, candy, bread and baked goods around. Santa Claus will once again make the trip from the North Pole to hear what all the four legged and two legged children want for Christmas and to take pictures with them. (Adults are also welcome in pics) $5 for 5x7 printed on site, $10 to email the file to you, $15 for both. This is a great time to get your holiday desserts for Thanksgiving and Christmas and help the animals at the same time. There will also be a Doggie Wish List for those who would like to contribute any gifts that are needed for the sick, injured and/or abandoned animals in our area and beyond. All wish list items can be found at Tractor Supply. They will also be selling tickets to a huge raffle, and drawing for the prizes at 4:00pm. Up for grabs is a week long stay at North Myrtle Beach, over New Years, a custom made set of cornhole boards, and a queen size hand made crocheted afghan. Tickets are on sale now and throughout the day of the event until 4:00pm. Anyone interested in contributing a holiday baked good, please call 704-460-9030 to arrange times to be picked up. You may also drop off at Tractor Supply anytime on Friday and before 10:00am on Saturday. All proceeds will help Clifford's Army Rescue continue to help the animals in need in our area. The Norsemen Motorcycle Club Partners with The Salvation Army to help Kids

The Norsemen Motorcycle Club Partners with The Salvation Army to help local kids Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 4:00pm, at 119 Lynch St., Forest City, NC. The Army's Angel Tree program serves children up to age 12 to insure that each child has something for Christmas. New, unwrapped toys and clothing can be dropped off at boxes around the county or at Norsemen MC Club House, where the dinner will be held. Cleveland County Veterans Day Parade

The Cleveland County Veterans Advisory Council announces the annual Veterans Day Parade and Veterans Day Program on Saturday, November 11, 2017 in uptown Shelby. The Parade begins on S. Lafayette and Graham Streets at 10:00am and ends at the Shelby Farmers Market on W. Marion Street. The Veterans Day Service on Shelby's Historic Court Square begins at 11:00am and the public is invited to attend both events. All veterans are encouraged to attend. In the event of rain, the Veterans Day Program will be held at the Shelby City Park. Persons or groups interested in participating in the Parade, please register by calling 704-435-1516 or email mccoyv@bellsouth.net no later than November 3, 2017.

Murphey's 23rd Annual Toy Run to benefit Shriner's Burn Center and Oxford Orphanage Masonic Home for Children and Kings Mountain Police Department Shop with a Cop will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017. Rain date is Sunday, November 19, 2017. Meet at 11:00, leave Scooter Shed at 12:00. Police escorted, 114 Camelot Court, Kings Mountain, NC, 704-739-4707. $5 plus new toy per person. Ruby C. Hunt YMCA - Turkey Trot

Cleveland County's largest 5K, 20th Annual Ruby C. Hunt YMCA Walk, Run and Kids Fun Run will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2017. 5K - 8:30am or 1/2 Mile - Kids Fun Run, 9:30am. Benefits the "We Build People Scholarship Fund". Held at Gardner-Webb University at the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center. Habitat for Humanity Cleveland County

Habitat is taking initial applications for its 2018 Home Build now through year end. The applicant must be able to make no interest house payments of $475 to $550 a month, must have a real need for better housing, must live in Cleveland County, and must be willing to partner with Habitat by completing "sweat equity" on the home and by attending Homeowner Workshops. The typical Habitat home has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and is approximately 1100 square feet. Applications may be picked up at the Habitat ReStore, 323 W. Grover St., Shelby or to receive an application by mail, call the Habitat office at 704-482-6200. In order to be considered, completed initial applications must be received by the Habitat office no later than December 28. Habitat is an Equal Housing Opportunity organization.
