What: C.A.R.E. Barks, Bikes, & Brews Poker Run
When: 10:00 am until, June 14.
Where: VFW, 855 W Sumter St., Shelby, NC.
More Info: A poker run on bicycles! Come out, get some exercise, while seeing many beautiful sites in Shelby. Stop along the way at our designated businesses to grab a drink or just hang out for a bit before heading to the next stop. We will start at 10 am signing up and getting bikes on their designated route. Last bike needs to be out by 11:00 am. All participants need to be back in by 3:30 pm. Cards will be drawn at the designated stops and the last card will be drawn when you come back to the VFW where we will declare the best hand and the worst hand and present awards. We will have entertainment too as the bikers come back in.
Don't have a bike? You may also walk, run, or use other transportation to participate. We will be adding an on line form to sign up in advance. All participants will get a tee shirt.
HALF N' HALF - We have already started selling tickets for the half n' half donations to help those with no voice. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 dollars. The total so far is $3380 and growing which means half for the lucky ticket drawn. We hope to raise a lot more between now and June 14th and we will continue to update totals as we can. Tickets are available from any CARE volunteer. You do not have to be present to win and you do not have to be local. We have Cash App, Venmo, Paypal, Website donation link and more for you to be able to participate. This is going to be a great event so please make plans to attend.

Chess: We meet each month on the fourth Monday of the month at 5:15 unless it falls on a holiday. Join us at the Cleveland County Library System, 104 Howie Dr., Shelby, NC at 5:15-6:45 PM for a fun evening of chess. There are players at all abilities and age groups. Everyone is welcome! If you want to learn or have played for years this meeting is for you. See you there!

Nar-Anon Support Group: Meets 6:30 pm weekly on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. Nar-Anon is a support group for those affected by someone else's drug addiction. We meet in the classroom off Dale St. between Sumter & Campbell St. Park on the side of the church or in the alley. Al-Anon Support Groups: Al-Anon Family Support Groups support those who are affected by someone else's drinking and drug use. No Name AFG meets on Mondays at Noon at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 510 W Sumter St., Shelby. Contact Kay at 704-473-4891.
