Relay for Life
The Relay for Life events:
Saturday, April 22, 2017 - The Leonard McSwain band will highlight an evening of fun and fellowship to benefit Relay for Life. A hot dog meal will begin at 5:30pm in the Family Life Center of Double Springs Baptist Church, 1130 Double Springs Church Rd., Shelby. The music will begin at 6:30pm. Admission is by donation to Relay.
Double Springs is located at 1130 Double Springs Church Road, off of Washburn Switch Road, near Lattimore.
American Cancer Society Lincolnton, NC is holding its annual fundraising evening of events and celebration of survivors on Friday, May 5, 2017. Come ride your motorcycle on a 1 hour police escorted night group ride "BUG RUN" through Western Lincoln County, followed by our lap of lights and thunder around the stadium track that excites all the spectators. The Ride will start and end at the Relay event held at the Lincolnton High School Stadium. First sticker is $10, additional are $5. Upon completion of the ride, the bike with the most bug splats on the sticker wins $100 cash prize. Registration 6:30-8:30pm. Kickstands up 9:00pm. All brands of motorcycle manufacturers are encouraged to participate.

Dialysis Clinic Inc., Shelby Presents Car Show
The Rev Up! Car Show presented by Dialysis Clinic, Inc. will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, Uptown Shelby 9-2; 12:00 - Judging; 1:30 - Awards Presented. This show is open to all makes, models, and years. Special Awards will be presented. A non-perishable food item is required to enter your car in the show. They will also have: Kidney and dialysis education, bp checks, live DJ, bouncy house, obstacle course, food and more. American Legion Post 82 Cruise In
The American Legion Post 82 Cruise In will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, 10:00am to 2:00 pm. Silent auction and bake sale will be inside the Post located at 1628 S. Lafayette St., Shelby NC. Hot dog plates will be served. Door prizes for Cruise In participants and awards to the Top 20 vehicles/bikes. Also a 50/50 drawing. New this year: kids up to age 12 can enter up to 5 model cars in the Kids Model Car Show. Prizes for the top 3. Don't miss this exciting family friendly event and support Post 82 and Veterans. Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society
The Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society will meet at the Cleveland County Extension Office, 130 South Post Road, Shelby, NC on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 2:30pm. The program will be Pesticide Safety Presentation given by Sheree Wright of Easley, SC. You are welcome to attend the monthly meetings. There will be an opportunity to ask questions regarding chemicals and growing roses. Visitors and new members are always welcome at our meetings. Refreshments will be served. Burns High School Marching Band
Burns High School Marching Band will be hosting a Golf Tournament at Deer Brook Golf Club Saturday, April 29, 2017. Start time: 2:00pm. Registration is at 1:00pm. 3 Man Team Style - entry fee is $60 per person ($180 per team). Cash prizes will be awarded. Scavenger Hunt to Benefit NC Baptist Children's Homes
A Scavenger Hunt to Benefit the NC Baptist Children's Homes (22 homes total) will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017. It begins and ends at Cornerstone Fellowship, 1186 Hudlow Rd, Forest City, NC. Registration Begins at 9:30am (coffee and donuts available).First Bike out at 10:00am. Last bike in by 1:00pm. Taco Bar Lunch at 1:00pm. Winning Team will be announced at 1:30pm and receives $100 Cash Prize. All modes of transportation. Do as much as time safely allows. Digital Camera or Phone Camera Required. Collect points for each item found. Photograph team with the found item (photographer is not required to be in pic) $15 per bike / passenger; $10, Cars of 2 people; $25 (additional passengers $5.00 each). Includes lunch and one door prize ticket. Non participants may purchase lunch for $5. Raffle drawing will be held at this event. All Participants that preregister and prepay will be entered into drawing for $25 Amazon card. Spring Memorial Service Hospice Cleveland Co.
A Spring Memorial Service for Hospice Cleveland County patients that have died September 1, 2016 through February 29, 2017 will be held Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Cross Roads 5K and Kids Fun Run, Boiling Springs
Cross Roads 5k and Kids Fun Run will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017. 5K Run/Walk - 8:00am; ½ Mile Kid's Fun Run - 9:00am. The race will begin on the campus of Gardner-Webb University Football Concourse, Boiling Springs, NC. All race participants should park in/near the football stadium parking lot to pick up their packets. *Race Participants may pick up their race packet on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Ruby C. Sunday, May 7, 21, 28, 2017 - "Fly Fishing 101". Get Hooked! Join angler Jeff Newton at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm for an introductory class on fly fishing. Jeff is an instructor with Project Healing Waters and is a member of Trout Unlimited. All class materials will be provided free. North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission fishing regulations still apply.

Washington Outreach Ministry, Inc., Shelby
Washington Outreach Ministry, Inc., will hold their 5th Annual Parade of Tables Dinner Featuring Elise Schenck, "Little Miss" Contestant, Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 6:00pm, at the Washington Elementary School, 907 Stony Point Rd., Shelby, NC. Admission is $40 for adults, $10 for students and to sponsor a table, $320. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Washington Outreach Food Ministry which helps feed many local families in need and provide scholarships to enable children to attend Washington Christian Academy Summer Camp, a nine-week Summer Math, Science and Health program. Without this program many of the children would miss the opportunity for academic enrichment during the summer months. Elise Schenck, the granddaughter of William and Elzine Schenck and 8-year old native of Tampa, FL travels to Shelby NC every summer to attend Washington Christian Academy. This experience has been invaluable to her and she would like to ensure that all of her old and hopefully new friends will be able to attend camp this summer. BBQ & Car Show Benefit for Mark Gardner
A BBQ and Car Show Benefit will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 2115 South Post Road, Shelby, NC, 10:00am till ? Boston Butts, $40, plates, $8. All proceeds go to Mark Gardner who was in a bad accident and is unable to work. Bring your ride out and show it off and enjoy some food and a pretty good time. Poor Man's Supper Benefit for Cleveland County Sheriff's Officer, David Acuff
There will be a Poor Man's Supper Benefit held for Cleveland County Sheriff's Officer, David Acuff, Saturday, April 22, 2017, from 2:00-6:00pm, held at First Love Ind. Baptist Church, 2636 S. Lafayette St., Shelby NC (across from Faith Baptist). He was injured during an altercation with an inmate where he suffered a shattered eye socket which he had invasive surgery to reconstruct his eye socket, a head injury as well as many bruises and other injuries.
