Rock The Square 2016, Earl Scruggs Center
Rock The Square 2016 will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016, 11:00am-10:00pm, Uptown Shelby, NC, outdoors around the court square (Earl Scruggs Center). Cost: Free Family Oriented Event. No alcohol or glass allowed on court square lawn. Everyone is invited to enjoy an afternoon of music as two live DJs recall the days of Album Oriented Rock radio by spinning a variety of tunes from vinyl all day and into the evening. For those who remember the days of album sides, deep tracks, and b-sides, bring a chair or blanket and enjoy a trip down memory lane. For those too young to remember, enjoy a glimpse into the golden age of FM radio! Shelby's rich musical heritage will be showcased, along with classic tracks, rare cuts, and even one-hit-wonders all from vinyl and turntables through state of the art sound systems. There will be give-aways and prizes throughout the day donated by the 25+ local Rock The Square sponsor businesses, but you have to be present to win, so bring the family and enjoy the food, shopping, and entertainment that Uptown Shelby has to offer and make a day of it! Cleveland/Lincoln County Rose Society
Cleveland/Lincoln County Rose Society will meet on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 2:30 pm. David Pike from Witherspoon Rose Culture In Durham will be the speaker and he will be giving a power point presentation on 'The Five Essentials of Growing Roses.' He is bringing cut roses to give away as a door prize. He will also be delivering the rose bushes that have been ordered by the members. They will be making plans for rose show Saturday, September 24, 2016, in Lincolnton, NC. This year the rose show will be at in the Auditorium of James W. Warren Citizens Center. They will be accepting sponsor donations in the form of awards and checks for the rose show. Guests are welcome and refreshments will be served. April meeting will be held at Cleveland County Office Building, 130 South Post Road in Shelby, NC, next to Food Lion.
Caribbean 5K Run/Walk
Medical Patient Modesty will be holding a "Caribbean 5K Run/Walk Saturday, April 30, 2016. Race will begin at 10:00am (registration at 9:00am). Guardians of the Children, Cleveland County
The Guardians of the Children will be holding a Car/Bike Show and Drag Racing Event. Proceeds will be going to support the Cleveland County Chapter. It will be Saturday, April 30, 2016, 11:00am to 5:00pm. Entrance fee: $20. Shadyside Dragway, 2149 Honey Haven Farm Road, Shelby, NC. Racing will start at 1:00pm. Trophies at 3:30pm. Bike Classes: Sport Bike, Metric, Cruiser, Touring, Trike, and Custom. Car/Truck Top 25. 50/50 Raffle. After party will be at Skooterz Saloon, 1851 E. Dixon Blvd., Shelby, NC.
Hands On Missions, Shelby
Hands on Missions of Shelby, NC, will host a Spring Fest from 7:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, May 14, 2016. The day will begin with a yard sale from 7:00am until. Children will be entertained with games, face painting, and athletic activities from 9:00-2:00. Paws and Balls Golf Tournament
Cleveland County Humane Society 12th annual Paws and Balls Golf Tournament will be held, Friday, May 20, 2016, at Deer Brook Golf Club. Shotgun start at 1:00. Contests at 11:30 and lunch will be at 12. Great prizes, contests, $5,000 hole in one, $10,000 Mutt Putt and more. Four person captain's choice at $85 per player. Join them and help the animals! Join a wonderful group of people who enjoy meals together, dances, picnics, day trips, and other social activities.
