Hospice Cleveland County
Hospice Cleveland County will hold the following event: Memory Bear & Pillow Workshop Tuesday, August 15, 2017 and Tuesday, September 19, 2017, 9:00am - Noon or 4:00pm - 7:00pm, at the Hospice Administration Building, Testa Family Hospice House by request only! Participants will have the opportunity to make a teddy bear or pillow out of a loved one's shirt or other article of clothing. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Space is limited. Foothills Post-Polio Support Group
The Foothills Post-Polio Support Group will hold their meeting on Monday, August 21, 2017, at 6:00pm, in the conference room of the Life Enrichment Center of Shelby. The conference room is located at the back of the building. The center is located off Hwy. 18 North on Life Enrichment Blvd, just north of Cornerstone Dentistry. The program will be given by Todd Putnam. He will present a book report on FDR and his life after Polio. If you are a polio survivor and would like to attend, we would love to see you there! Casar Masonic Lodge Golf Tournament
The Casar Masonic Lodge 11th Annual Golf Tournament Captain's Choice will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017, 9:00 am, check will be at 8:00am. Shotgun Start. It will be held at Pine Mountain Golf Course, 2961 Pine Mountain Drive, Connelly Springs, NC. Four Man Team, $240 per Team entry fee. Prizes: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, longest Drive, and Longest Putt, Closest to Hole (Par 3s). Free golf towels to the First 48 Entrants. Mulligan's and Tee Busters included. Breakfast and Lunch Provided. This will be to support the Masonic Children's Home and Masonic and Eastern Star Home. Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society
Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society will meet Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 2:30pm Sunday afternoon at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Faith Building, corner of West Church Street and South Government Street in Lincolnton, NC. This will be the final meeting before the 44th Annual Rose Show at the Cleveland County Agricultural Office in Shelby, NC on September 30, 2017. The rose show is the big event of the year for our rose society which participates in other area shows and garden tours during the year. At the August 27th meeting, they will make final plans for the upcoming rose show. Please plan to attend this meeting if you would like to enter roses you grow. The members and visitors are asked to bring a couple roses each and participate in their own rose show Sunday afternoon. There will be entry tags available and Consulting Rosarians will be available to answer your questions and help with your rose entries. Members will be discussing the best roses to grow in this area. Visitors are always welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Shelby Senior Friends Dinner Group
Shelby Senior Friends Dinner Group invites you to join them the third Thursday of the month at Showmars at 5:00pm for supper and alternating local restaurants the first Friday of each month. They are a casual group of friends who enjoy spending time together and many have found lasting friendships and relationships. Feel free to bring a friend and some fresh ideas. Salvation Army of Shelby
The Salvation Army of Shelby needs clean plastic bags to use for packing groceries for clients. Drop off your donation in the rear of 305 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, beside Enloe's Mortuary. The Army provides assistance with food and clothing to eligible families, and can help those facing eviction or loss of utility service. It is a United Way agency.
