Shelby High School Theatre - "The Crucible"
Shelby High School Theatre, 230 E. Dixon Blvd., Shelby, NC, will be presenting "Arthur Miller's The Crucible" Friday, May 11, 2018, 7:00pm; Saturday, May 12, 2018, 7:00pm; and Sunday, May 13, 2018, at 3:00pm. The year is 1692 in the Puritan New England Town of Salem, Mass. A group of girls go dancing in the forest. Seems innocent enough but the panic, chaos, and terror that ensues shortly after will alter their small town forever! Buy tickets on facebook or at www.shelbyhightheatre.org; $5 online, $8 at the door and ($5 for Students and Seniors). Due to limited seating, presale seats will be held until 15 minutes before show start, after that time, they will be sold.

Crest High School Fundraising Event of MS
Crest High School, Sid Bryson Stadium will be holding a Fundraising Event for Multiple Sclerosis, Saturday, May 12, 2018, 10:00am - 12:00pm. Teaming up for MS - MS Walk and opening ceremony will begin at 10:00am. Gate admission: $3 (age 5 and under are free). Bake sale, carnival games, sno cones, dunking booth, food, face painting, jewelry, arts and crafts, music. Sunday, May 13, 20, 27, 2018 - "Fly Fishing 101" Get Hooked! Join a volunteer angler at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm for an introductory class on fly fishing. Please bring all personal equipment available. Classes may vary based on interest and skill level of the participants. North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission fishing regulations still apply. In the event of bad weather please contact park office for cancellation information.

Extension Master Gardeners Annual Plant Sale will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018, Just in time for Mother's Day! Master Gardeners have been propagating and potting plants for months to ensure you have a selection of perennials, herbs, annuals and interesting house plants. Sale is open to the public. Cash Only. Hospice Volunteer Training Class. Hospice training is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice care and the services provided to the community. To get credit for the entire course, you will need to attend all days at one of the times offered or call to schedule a time to complete the training. "Reflections" Sharing Group - This grief sharing group meets for five weeks. No cost and open to anyone who has lost a loved one. Burns High School Lady Dawgs Soccer Team Fundraisers
BHS Lady Dawgs Soccer Team Hosts: BBQ Chicken Dinner Saturday, May 19, 2018, 4:30-7:30pm, at Zion Baptist Church Family Life Center, 525 West Zion Church Rd., Shelby, NC. Dine in or Carryout. The 1st Annual Burns High School Bulldog Soccer Bash will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at Burns High School. Featuring: 6:00 Alumni Game. All BHS Alumni Soccer players, women and men, will be playing to reconnect with the field. Game will be shortened; 6:45 Give it a Shot. All attending can "Give it a Shot" at a cash prize! Make it in the doghouse and win; 7:00 BHS Mens vs. Ladies. Current men and women soccer players at BHS will battle it out to see who can dominate the field. Post Polio Support Group Meeting
At this month's Post Polio Support Group meeting on Monday, May 21, 2018, at 6:00pm. Ms. Dianne Garner will give a program about healthy living and fighting inflammation in our bodies. Everyone attending should bring their own meal. Coffee, and water will be provided. The location is at the rear of the Life Enrichment Center off of Hwy. 18N. on Life Enrichment Drive, Shelby. Habitat for Humanity Cleveland County
Habitat is taking initial applications for its 2018/2019 Home Build now through June 30, 2018. The applicant must be able to make no interest house payments of $475 to $550 a month, must have a real need for better housing, must live in Cleveland County, and must be willing to partner with Habitat by completing "sweat equity" on the home and by attending Homeowner Workshops. The typical Habitat home has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and is approximately 1100 square feet. Applications may be picked up at the Habitat ReStore, 323 W. Grover St., Shelby or to receive an application by mail, call the Habitat office at 704-482-6200. In order to be considered, completed initial applications must be received by the Habitat office no later than June 30, 2018. Habitat is an Equal Housing Opportunity organization.
