The Library at Ruby C. Hunt YMCA, Shelby
The Library at the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA will host a book talk by local author and educator, Morgan Blanton on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 4:00pm. Morgan Blanton, one of Cleveland County's own has published three children's books and would love to share these loveable characters with you and your family. Copies of the books will be available for purchase. The Library at the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA is located at 1322 Patrick Avenue, Shelby, NC. Crouse Christmas Parade
The Crouse Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold their Annual Crouse Christmas Parade (Old Hwy. 150, Crouse, NC), Saturday, December 3, 2016, 1:00pm. Rain or shine. For more information call 704-214-7579. Pickup applications at Crouse Fire Department or Memory Lane in Crouse.
Kings Mountain Historical Museum
Kings Mountain Historical Museum - Saturday, December 3, 2016, 10am-3pm: Experience the magic of the Toys, Games and Trains exhibit, and tour the historic Barber House decorated for the holidays. Learn about the history of Christmas celebrations, and participate in traditional craft demonstrations led by 18th century costumed interpreters. Bring home your own hand-made ornaments! 3pm-5pm: City of Kings Mountain's annual Christmas Parade. 5pm-7pm: Enjoy a special "night run" of the Toys, Games & Trains exhibit, candlelight tours of the historic Barber House, and hot apple cider with cookies by the firelight. Admission for this event is free.
On Saturday, December 10, 2016, Santa Claus will be at the Museum during the Toys, Games & Trains exhibit to visit with the little ones. Mrs. Claus will also do a special reading of the classic 1823 children's story, "The Night Before Christmas." The museum will be open from 10:00am to 4:00pm Admission to this event is FREE!
Union Elementary School Christmas Bazaar
Union Elementary School is sponsoring their first ever Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, December 3, 2016, 9:00-3:00. During this event over 50 vendors will be set up selling various items. Vendors include: Lularoe, It works, Matilda Jane, homemade jewelry, wreaths, baked goods and more! They also have over 50 items to raffle off. The bazaar will be held at Union Elementary School which is located on 1440 Union Church Road, right off of Highway 226 North. Admission is free! Cleveland County Arts Council
Cleveland County Arts Council will hold this drivable tour on Saturday, December 3, 2016, and includes admission to six Cleveland County homes, all beautifully decorated for the season. Buy tickets for "Holiday Happy Hour" & the "Holiday Home Tour" and save $5! 19th Annual Earl Christmas Parade
The 19th Annual Earl Christmas Parade will be held on the Sunday, December 4, 2016, at 3:00pm, rain or shine. The 2016 Theme is "Home for Christmas" celebrating the comforts and support of family, friends and neighbors in the holiday season. Renown Beach Music singer/songwriter B.J. Earl is the 2016 Parade Grand Marshal. Participation is free and registration information can be found and forms and maps downloaded at www.TownOfEarl.ORG., by calling 704-709-9627 or by email to PARADE@TownOfEarl.ORG. Registration forms are available at both the Earl Post Office and Town Hall. A Community Christmas music service will be held after the parade at New Hope Baptist Church in Earl, NC. Hwy 198 (Blacksburg Rd.,). Soup and sandwich supper will follow parade. Everyone welcome.

Memory Making with Ornaments Participants will have the opportunity to make holiday ornaments in memory of their loved one. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Please them on Friday, December 16, 2016 as we light the way in Uptown Shelby. For each contribution of $10.00, a luminary will be placed on the Court Square in uptown Shelby. Each luminary will be labeled with the name of the individual to be remembered. A special military luminary is also available. Forms can be found on our website at www.hospicecares.cc and must be turned in no later than December 9, 2016. Proceeds support the general operations of Hospice Cleveland County. Casar Christmas Parade
The Casar Christmas Parade is will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 3:00pm. Starts at Casar Elementary and goes to Casar Post Office. DJ and public bathrooms at Fire Department. Depression Peer Support Group, Shelby
Depression Peer Support Group meets every Tuesday at the Cleveland Memorial Library in the small conference room. Join then in sharing peer support for those with depression.
Shelby Singles 60 and Over
Shelby senior singles 60 and over invite you to join them the third Thursday of the month at Showmars at 5:00pm and alternate restaurants for dinner the first Friday of the month. Friday, December 2, 2016, they will be eating together at The Creekside Clock restaurant about 4:30pm. See what they are all about as many have found lasting friendships and lifelong companions.
