City Park Winter Hours & Holiday Events
        Winter Schedule (December, January, and February) is Friday and Saturday from 1-5:00 PM and 1:30-5:00 PM on Sunday. This is “Carrousel Only” in Winter except for special holiday hours if the weather permits for the Rotary Train. Train reopens with Spring Schedule in March.

Moms Club of Shelby
        MOMS CLUB of SHELBY-We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month  from 10-11 AM at Christ Covenant Church in Shelby. Here we plan our play dates, moms night out, and discuss other business matters for the month. Our members are stay at home moms or moms who work part time that live in the local area. South Mountains State Park Programs
        12/26 – Sunday – “Skulls and Skins” – 2 pm - 3 pm. Look for a Park Ranger and his interesting display of skulls and skins at the Visitor Center. Drop by and hear about some of the animals that call South Mountains State Park home.

New Support Group for Depression and Bipolar Disorder
        Now people living with depression or bipolar disorder will have a new place to find hope, help and support. The local chapter of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) will host regular, confidential, peer-led, self-help support group meetings on Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Shelby. DBSA support groups are open to anyone who is diagnosed with a mood disorder, has a family member or friend who is diagnosed, or who thinks they might have depression or bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression). DBSA support groups are not run by professionals, but instead offer peer-to-peer support which is an important component of recovery from mental illness for many people. DBSA is the nation’s leading patient-directed organization focusing on the most prevalent mental illnesses – depression and bipolar disorder. The organization has over 400 independent local chapters that operate over 1000 self-help support groups around the United States. Cleveland County Arts Council
        12/27 – Saturday – Roots Music Film Night – 6:00 pm at the Don Gibson Theatre. The Cleveland County Arts Council & Destination Cleveland County are excited to offer three great films in one evening in the Don Gibson Theatre. These films have all been award winners at the Real to Real International Film Festival and have a roots music connection. At 6:00 - Richard Johnston: Hill Country Troubadour; 7:00 - Mountain Music Project; and at 8:00 - Crazy. Free to attend.

Hospice Cleveland County Events
        “Chick-fil-A Spirit Night” – Hospice Cleveland County would like to invite you to participate in Hospice Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A (near Walmart). 10% of all proceeds between 6 pm and 8 pm on this night will be donated to Hospice Cleveland County for anyone saying they are supporting Hospice when they order.         “Reflections” – This grief support group meets for six weeks in the morning and is most beneficial if all sessions are attended. No Cost and open to anyone that has lost a loved one. Disaster Fundraiser
        The American Red Cross will sponsor a Disaster Fundraiser. Boston butts will be available for $35.00 each. Includes slaw and sauce. Pickup time is Thursday, December 23, 10:00 a.m.-12 noon. Red Cross Building, 1333 Fallston Road, Shelby, NC. Deadline to order Thursday, December 17.

Camp Call Masonic Lodge BBQ Butts

Casar Fire Department Annual BBQ
And Turkey Sale
        Casar Fire Department will hold their Annual BBQ and Turkey Sale on December 24, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. BBQ shoulders are $40.00 (includes BBQ slaw and sauce). Turkeys are $25.00. All proceeds will benefit the Casar Volunteer Fire Department. Take the stress out of your Christmas cooking this year and enjoy a pit cooked shoulder or turkey. Rutherford County All-Star Football Team Fundraiser
        The Rutherford County All-Star Football team will be holding a Car Wash and Hot-Dog sale at Auto Zone in Forest City from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm on Monday, December 27th. We want to raise funds to attend the UFIC Football Tourney in Greenville SC. Donations are Greatly Appreciated.
Autism Awareness Group Meetings
        Autism Awareness Group will meet at 6:30 pm the last Tuesday of every month at Boundless Miracles, LLC , 820 South Post Road, Shelby, NC. ServSafe – 16 Hour Food Safety
Certification Course
        ServSafe is a 16-hour Food Safety Certification Course, which teaches cost-effective food safety practices for your operation. The curriculum was designed by the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association. Successful completion of the course allows a food service establishment in the state of North Carolina to receive two additional points on their health inspection. Who Should Attend?
