Neighborhood Calendar Dec. 29th edition
 Piecemakers Quilt Guild
  “Piecemakers Quilt Guilld meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10AM - 12PM at the Lincoln Co Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen St., Lincolnton.  We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting; visitors & new members are welcome.  Meetings include a business meeting, show-and-tell, and a program related to quilting.  On Dec 7th members meet in the college cafeteria for the annual Christmas party.
Survivors Of Suicide Support Group
   Sponsored by the Mental Health Association in Cleveland County, the Survivors of Suicide Support Group offers a safe and confidential space for those who have lost a loved one to suicide.  The group is facilitated by peers who are also survivors of suicide.  Join our group to talk with others who are processing this unique loss.  The group meets the last Tuesday of every month from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at the Cleveland County Memorial Library, 104 Howie Drive Shelby, NC 28150.  For more information contact the Mental Health Association in Cleveland County, 704-481-8637, mha@clevelandcountymha.org or visit our website at  www.clevelandcountymha.org

 South Mountain State Park
    Sunday, December 31 - “Skulls and Skins” - Look for a Park        
    Sunday, December 31 - Ranger and his interesting display of skulls and skins at the Visitor Center.  Drop by between 11:00-12:00 and hear about some of the animals that call South Mountains State Park home.
    Sunday, December 31 - “Wintergreen Hike” - Join a Park Ranger for a walk along the Hemlock Nature Trail and learn about some of the plants that stay green all year long and plants that are used for traditional Christmas decorating.  Meet at the Jacob Fork Parking Area at 2:00 pm.
   Sunday, December 31 - South Mountains State Park is located south of Morganton off of old Highway 18.  We welcome the community to join us for our monthly educational interpretive programs.  Call the park office at (828) 433-4772 for more information.

Red Cross December Blood Drives
   The Cleveland County Red Cross will hold the following Blood Drives. They will also hold a drawing for three pair of roundtrip Delta Airline tickets, to be given each month October thru December.

CCC Resume Writing Classes
     Sunday, December 31 -  Give yourself a gift for the Holidays and be ready to start the New Year off right with a new resume that gets results, interviews and job offers. Cleveland Community College will soon offer a four day course that provides student with training and skills required to create a resume that gets results. All students will create a resume during the four day course, plus a cover letter that will be uploaded to the Career Connections website at Cleveland Community College; Cleveland County’s premier job search website.December 20, 21, 22, 23, 8:30 AM -12:30 PM . GSCT Presents Forever Plaid
    GSCT presents FOREVER PLAID Greater Shelby Community Theatre will present the very popular 50’s musical revue, Forever Plaid. Four male singers, killed in a car crash on the way to their concert, are miraculously revived to present beloved nostalgic 50’s songs and delightful patter in a posthumous concert. Performances are Jan. 27, 28, Feb. 3 and 4 at 7:30 pm and Jan. 29 and Feb. 5 at 2:30 pm at Keeter Auditorium, CCC. Tickets are $12/adults, $10/seniors,students. Discount presale tickets will be available 2 weeks prior at Arnold’s, Badcock & More, CC Arts Council, Maxwell Hamrick Ins., Neal Senior Center.
