City Park Winter Hours & Holiday Events
        Winter Schedule (December, January, and February) is Friday and Saturday from 1-5:00 PM and 1:30-5:00 PM on Sunday. This is “Carrousel Only” in Winter except for special holiday hours if the weather permits for the Rotary Train. Train reopens with Spring Schedule in March.

Moms Club of Shelby
        MOMS CLUB of SHELBY-We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month  from 10-11 AM at Christ Covenant Church in Shelby. Here we plan our play dates, moms night out, and discuss other business matters for the month. Our members are stay at home moms or moms who work part time that live in the local area. New Support Group for Depression and Bipolar Disorder
        Now people living with depression or bipolar disorder will have a new place to find hope, help and support. The local chapter of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) will host regular, confidential, peer-led, self-help support group meetings on Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Shelby. DBSA support groups are open to anyone who is diagnosed with a mood disorder, has a family member or friend who is diagnosed, or who thinks they might have depression or bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression). DBSA support groups are not run by professionals, but instead offer peer-to-peer support which is an important component of recovery from mental illness for many people. DBSA is the nation’s leading patient-directed organization focusing on the most prevalent mental illnesses – depression and bipolar disorder. The organization has over 400 independent local chapters that operate over 1000 self-help support groups around the United States. Hospice Cleveland County Events
        “Chick-fil-A Spirit Night” – Hospice Cleveland County would like to invite you to participate in Hospice Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A (near Walmart). 10% of all proceeds between 6 pm and 8 pm on this night will be donated to Hospice Cleveland County for anyone saying they are supporting Hospice when they order. Thursdays: January 20 – 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm – 710 E. Dixon Blvd., Shelby, NC.
        “Reflections” – This grief support group meets for six weeks in the morning and is most beneficial if all sessions are attended. No Cost and open to anyone that has lost a loved one. Autism Awareness Group Meetings
        Autism Awareness Group will meet at 6:30 pm the last Tuesday of every month at Boundless Miracles, LLC , 820 South Post Road, Shelby, NC. New Year’s Eve Dinner And Dance
        The Neal Senior Center will sponsor a New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance, on Friday, December 31, 2010, 6:30 p.m.-12:30 AM at the Senior Center, 100 TR Harris Dr., Shelby. Music by: Frank Love Orchestra. Tickets are $25.00 per person or $45.00 per couple. This includes dinner, dance, party favors and a midnight toast. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are now available at the Neal Sr. Center. Come by the Center to purchase your tickets and reserve your seat. Carillon Assisted Living of Shelby
        Carillon Assisted Living of Shelby is launching our “Annual Old Man Winter Coat Drive”. It’s time to clean out those closets, and find some good use for those coats you don’t wear anymore! There are so many deserving people in our community who would appreciate a warm jacket. Drop off your coats so that they can be presented to the Cleveland County Abuse Prevention Council to help the less fortunate stay warm this winter. Help us make a difference in OUR community! This Winter Coat Drive will take place January 1st - January 30th at the Carillon Assisted Living of Shelby, 1550 Charles Road, Shelby. Coat Drop-off time: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. “Coats may be new or “gently used.” We will be glad to coordinate alternate “drop=off” arrangements if you cannot drop off coats at our commuity. ServSafe – 16 Hour Food Safety
Certification Course
        ServSafe is a 16-hour Food Safety Certification Course, which teaches cost-effective food safety practices for your operation. The curriculum was designed by the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association. Successful completion of the course allows a food service establishment in the state of North Carolina to receive two additional points on their health inspection. Who Should Attend? Foodservice managers, supervisors and other personnel in restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, child-care facilities, school cafeterias and other food-handling establishments.When: Monday, January 24 - Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. (Two-day format). Exam will be Monday, January 31, 2011 at 8:30 am. Cost: $105.00 per participant (includes 5th edition book updated with 2009 FDA Food Code, exam, certificate and refreshments).
