Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC, Calendar of Events:
"Reflections" Sharing Group - This grief sharing group meets for six weeks. No cost and open to anyone who has lost a loved one. If you plan to attend one of our groups, please make every effort to attend all six sessions. Registration forms are available at HCC Administrative Office or by calling 704-487-4677. Thursdays: February 11, 18, 2016 - 11:30am - 1:00pm at Hospice Cleveland County Administration Building.
Broad River Genealogical Society
The Broad River Genealogical Society will hold a presentation, Sunday, February 14, 2016, at 3:00pm. It will be on the Catawba Indians by Archivist Brent Burgin. He will also bring his collection of Catawba Pottery. All ages and everyone is invited to the programs at the Neal Center in Shelby, NC. There is no cover charge, and light refreshments are available. Non Members are always welcome. A friendly reminder that the Broad River Genealogical Society Membership Dues are now due for 2016 Membership Year. Anyone wanting to renew or join will need to send $25 to the following address: Broad River Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 2261, Shelby, NC 28152 or bring a check on Sunday and give it to Martha Bridges, the Treasury. Their Library is located at 1145 County Home Road Shelby NC, across from Putnam Memorial Baptist Church. Members receive 4 Booklets during the year on local history and Genealogical Information on families. Open every Tuesday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm and also the 2nd and 3rd Mondays from noon until 4:00pm.
The Foothills Post-Polio Support Group
The Foothills Post- Polio Support Group, formerly called the Cleveland County Post-Polio Support Group, will hold the February meeting at the IHOP (International House Of Pancakes) in Shelby, NC on East Dixon Blvd, across from Walmart on February 15, 2016 at 11:30am. This will be a Dutch Lunch. The program this meeting is just enjoying our friendships and sharing fellowship with each other. If you are a polio survivor please plan to attend. Depression and Bipolar Support Group, Shelby
Depression and Bipolar support group meets every Tuesday at the Cleveland Memorial Library in the small conference room from 6:30pm until 8:00pm. Contact Jodi with questions at 704-484-8998.
SWA Wrestling Association
The SWA Wrestling Assoc. will be at the Forest City Armory on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Doors open at 7:00pm, belltime is at 8:00pm. Tickets are $6, 5 and under are free. All seats are ringside, first come first serve. We have Shelby's own, James Drake vs Ken Lee, Joshua "Real" Cutshallvs Jamie Lee bxh, High Profile vs Hai Shin (for the tag team belts). The main event is for the SWA Championship Belt: Wicked vs JR Reynolds plus many more. So bring your family and friends for a phenomenal night of action packed family fun.
Pancake Supper Fundraiser, Casar
There will be a Pancake Supper Fundraiser, Saturday, February 20, 2016, from 4-7pm at the old Casar Fire Dept. to purchase Christmas Lights for the town of Casar, NC. Adults $8- for 3 Stacks, choice of livermush or sausage, choice of grits or hashbrown casserole, and drink. Country Ham Supper Benefit
There will be a Benefit Country Ham Supper for Lacey Culbertson and Twins, at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, Saturday, February 20, 2016, 4:00pm until. Cost: adults $10; kids 10 and under $5.
Lawndale Baptist Church
Lawndale Baptist Church will be holding a "Gospel Music Benefit" Sunday, March 6, 2016, at 6:00pm, to benefit Joey Parker and his family. Love offering will be taken and all proceeds to go to Joey's medical expenses. Hal Greene and Larry Brewton in gospel concert.
