LFS Carolinas In Need Of Foster Parents
Thousands of children in North Carolina need safe and loving homes to survive and thrive. Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas (LFS Carolinas) is looking for compassionate families to provide stable, structured and loving homes for adolescents. Many times children are forced to move to neighboring counties in order to be placed with a foster family if the appropriate family can not be found within their county. Already faced with the trauma often associated with leaving their current home, being placed into a new school and community can have negative affects on their education, behavior and mental state. For this reason, LFS Carolinas strives to keep their lives as unchanged as possible. Qualified parents will receive respite care, 24-hour support, training, monthly support groups, appreciation events and reimbursement. Information sessions will be held January 17th and 26th,  6 pm at Ascension Lutheran Church, 300 N. Lafayette St., Shelby. MAPP classes begin on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, from 6-9 pm at Ascension Lutheran Church. For more information on becoming a foster parent please call 704-922-4250 or 1-800-HELPING.
