   Bingo Each Monday Night (except holidays). Doors open at 5:30 (no admittance after 7:00pm). Jackpot up to $500.00 – Public invited 12 years old and up.

   Winterfest – Dinner and Dance Fundraiser - Friday, January 28, 2011 - Doors open at 5:30 PM - Tickets are now available at the Neal Senior Center, and must be purchased in advance by January 25, 2011. Contact Mary Hamrick at 704-482-3488 for further information. Ticket Cost: $10.00 per person. Includes: Spaghetti, Salad, Bread, Beverage and Dessert. Dancing will begin at 7:00pm – Music will be provided by DJ, Dick Hamrick.

   Winter Flea Market - Friday, February 11, 2011 - 8:00 - 4:00 - Enjoy a wide variety of items for sale. Enjoy the Neal Center’s Famous Ham Biscuits ($2.50 ea.) Plain Butter Biscuits ($1.00 ea.). Pennies From Heaven Art Show & Silent Auction
        The Pennies From Heaven Art Show and Silent Auction is accepting art submissions now through February 7th. Entry forms are available for download on the Pennies From Heaven Facebook page. City Park Winter Hours

        Winter Schedule (December, January, and February) is Friday and Saturday from 1-5:00 PM and 1:30-5:00 PM on Sunday. This is “Carrousel Only” in Winter except for special holiday hours if the weather permits for the Rotary Train. Train reopens with Spring Schedule in March.

Moms Club of Shelby
        MOMS CLUB of SHELBY-We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month  from 10-11 AM at Christ Covenant Church in Shelby. Here we plan our play dates, moms night out, and discuss other business matters for the month. Our members are stay at home moms or moms who work part time that live in the local area. New Support Group for Depression and Bipolar Disorder
        Now people living with depression or bipolar disorder will have a new place to find hope, help and support. The local chapter of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) will host regular, confidential, peer-led, self-help support group meetings on Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Shelby. DBSA support groups are open to anyone who is diagnosed with a mood disorder, has a family member or friend who is diagnosed, or who thinks they might have depression or bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression). DBSA support groups are not run by professionals, but instead offer peer-to-peer support which is an important component of recovery from mental illness for many people. DBSA is the nation’s leading patient-directed organization focusing on the most prevalent mental illnesses – depression and bipolar disorder. The organization has over 400 independent local chapters that operate over 1000 self-help support groups around the Unite d States. Hospice Cleveland County Events
   “Reflections” – This grief support group meets for six weeks in the evening and is most beneficial if all sessions are attended. No cost and open to anyone who has lost a loved one.         “Memory Bear Workshop” – Participants will have the opportunity to make a teddy bear out of a loved one’s shirt or other article of clothing. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult..         “Camp Mostly Smiles” – This is a one-day retreat for children ages 6 - 16 who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Participants will have the opportunity to express their grief through writing, crafts, play activities and group discussions. Professionals who are trained in grief and loss will facilitate the retreat.. Please RSVP to ext. 166 if you plan to attend. Carillon Assisted Living of Shelby
        Carillon Assisted Living of Shelby is launching our “Annual Old Man Winter Coat Drive”. It’s time to clean out those closets, and find some good use for those coats you don’t wear anymore! There are so many deserving people in our community who would appreciate a warm jacket. Drop off your coats so that they can be presented to the Cleveland County Abuse Prevention Council to help the less fortunate stay warm this winter. Help us make a difference in OUR community! This Winter Coat Drive will take place Now through January 30th at the Carillon Assisted Living of Shelby, 1550 Charles Road, Shelby. Coat Drop-off time: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. “Coats may be new or “gently used.” We will be glad to coordinate alternate “drop-off” arrangements if you cannot drop off coats at our community.         Make your reservations now for Valentine’s Day lunch at the Anne Dover Bailey Carrousel Pavilion at Shelby City Park on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm. A catered lunch by Dressing On The Side will include homemade vegetable soup, fresh deli sandwich, salad with homemade dressing, fresh fruit, dessert bar and warm cider or tea. Shelby City Park & Rutherford County Senior Center Dinner Theater Trip
        The Shelby City Park and Rutherford County Senior Center is planning a trip to Barn Dinner Theater on February 15, 2011. Transportation is provided by Discovery Group Tours. Bus will leave at 9:30am from Rutherford County Senior Center, and leaves
Shelby City Park at 10:00 am, seating for lunch will be at 1:00pm with a 2:15 showtime. Located in Greensboro, NC, Barn Dinner will present “Band of Angels”, a country music sensation about the starts of the famous Ryman Auditorium, featuring a cast of characters
including Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Minnie Pearl, Tammy Wynette, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe, Ernest Tubb, Marty Robbins and more. A great lunch buffet is included. Cleveland County Preschool Screenings
        Cleveland County Schools Preschool Screenings for the 2011-2012 preschool programs will be February 21, 22, 23,24 and 25. No makeup screenings will be offered. The screenings will be held at the Office of School Readiness, 124 South Post Road, Shelby, NC 28152 (Beside the Food Lion, across from CCC). Children who live in Cleveland County and who will be 4 years old by August 31, 2011. Piecemakers Quilt Guild
        Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Lincoln Co. Senior Center, Room 319, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen St., Lincolnton. Meetings include a business meeting, show-and-tell, and a program related to quilting. On Feb. 2nd members will display their “UFO Challenge” projects. Visitors of all ages are invited to this special program. Members also meet the third Wed. of each month 9 a.m.-3 p.m. to work on our community projects.
