Relay For Life
Relay For Life - Wrap Up Party Time, Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at 6:00pm. Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department will have a few snacks, celebrate their success, and talk about next year. Please join them if you are able.
Shelby City Park
The Shelby City Park will be holding summer gymnastics classes beginning June 15, 2015. Classes are held Monday through Thursday during the weeks of July 13, July 20 and August 3. "Camp Mostly Smiles" - This is a one-day retreat for children ages 6-16 who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Participants will have the opportunity to express their grief through writing, crafts, play activities, and group discussions. "Hospice Volunteer Training Class" - Hospice training is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice care and the services provided to the community. This 12-hour course is free. "Reflections" Support Group - This grief sharing group meets for six weeks. No cost and open to anyone who has lost a loved one. Foothills Detachment, Marine Corps League, Shelby
The Foothills Detachment, Marine Corps League, 127 West Grover Street, Shelby, NC invites all active duty and honorably discharged veterans and families to attend a Military breakfast/Memorial Brick laying service on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Town of Kingstown
The Town of Kingstown will be having a surplus auction sale on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Town Hall. All funds will go to the startup of it's fire department. Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society
Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society will be holding a meeting at the Cleveland County Agricultural Office, 130 S. Post Road, Shelby, NC, next to Food Lion, Sunday, June 28, 2015, at 2:30pm. The program will be 'Photographing Roses and Flowers' given by Lincoln Photography Club members, Alice Greene & Carol Lake. Fred Wright, member of Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society will give a slide program showing his 35+ new roses he has hybridized. Fred's roses are available for purchase on line at K & M Nurseries in Mississippi. Members will be making plans for our 42nd annual Rose Show September 26, 2015, at the Cleveland County Agricultural Office. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Refreshments will be served.
Mount Holly Fireworks Celebration
Mount Holly will have a Fireworks Celebration downtown, on Thursday, July 2, 2015. It will begin at 6:30pm on the Mount Holly Stage with "Coming Up Brass". There will be a kid zone and the fireworks display will start at 9:00pm.

Town of Lattimore 4th of July Celebration
The Town of Lattimore invites everyone to be a part of the annual Fourth of July parade and celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Entries will begin lining up for the parade on Oak Drive/Towery Road at 8:00am. The parade will begin at 9:00am and go up Westlee, Main, and Price Streets. Parade entries will include law enforcement vehicles, antique cars, horses, tractors, and much more! At the conclusion of the parade, a special program will be presented at the recreation park of Lattimore Baptist Church. The program will begin around 10:00am and will include the National Anthem, the recognition of veterans, and live music by the bluegrass duo of Darin and Brooke Aldridge. Come early to get a prime seat and enjoy food sold along the parade route by the Lattimore Baptist Church youth group. Biscuits, hotdogs, drinks, and homemade desserts will also be sold at the recreation park. All proceeds will go toward funding youth activities such as summer camp. Methodist Churches offer Summer Neighborhood Lunch Program for children, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday,. July 6 thru July 31, 2015 (rain or shine), 12:00-1:30pm, at Polkville Park/Park Drive, Polkville, NC. Missionial Network 13 Methodist Churches are: Casar, Clover Hill, Double Shoals, Durham, Friendship, Kistler, Lawndale, Mount Moriah, New Home, Oak Grove, Palm Tree, Philadelphia, Pleasant Hill, Polkville, Rehobeth, and Saint Paul. Shelby No-Name Al-Anon Family Group
Shelby No-Name Al-Anon Family Group meets on Mondays from 12:00-1:00pm, at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 502 W. Sumter St., Shelby, NC. The purpose of al-anon is to provide support to friends and families of alcoholics. Anyone who is affected by someone else's use of alcohol or drugs is invited to attend. Fundraiser for Doug Fortenberry Cooker Fund
There will be a Rib Sale Fundraiser for Doug Fortenberry Cooker Fund. Doug and his team help Hospice Cleveland County, Teddy Bear's Beach Run, and countless others in our community. Money from this sale will go toward materials to help build a new cooker used at these area fundraisers. The sale will be Friday, June 19, 2015, at American Red Cross, 1333 Fallston Road, Shelby, NC. Rib pickup: 4:00pm - 6:00pm. The original Ed Fortenberry special recipe is back. $25 per rack by order only while supplies last! To order call 704-751-3593. Shelby High School Class of 1955
The Shelby High School Class of 1955 has planned their 60th reunion on Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, 2015. Friday, August 21: early arrivals will meet at Alston Bridges BBQ at 3:00pm for a 'taste of hometown BBQ'. Friday evening there will be a performance by "Elvis and his Band" at the Don Gibson Theatre. The lounge opens at 6:30 and doors to the theatre open at 7:30pm with the concert beginning at 8:00pm. Saturday noon: classmates will meet in the private dining room for a luncheon at Ichiban, 1712 East Dixon Blvd., Shelby, NC. An afternoon tour is planned after the luncheon. Saturday night will be a social time and dinner at the Don Gibson Theatre. Doors to the lounge will open at 5:00pm with hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and "meet and greet". 6:00pm: dinner of BBQ pork and chicken with all the trimmings will be catered by Harry McKee. After the meal, class pictures will be made. Reservations for special seating at the "Elvis" show on Friday must be made by July 10, 2015. Child Support Announces Anonymous Tip Line
The Cleveland County Child Support Office has opened a new tip Line to allow the public to anonymously report the whereabouts and any other information of noncustodial parents who may be avoiding establishment and/or enforcement of a child support order. Tipsters will be able to call the Tip Line 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. They will not be asked to leave their name or any other identifying information. When calling the Tip Line, helpful information would include the noncustodial parent's full name, date of birth, current address, phone number, place of employment, vehicle tag number, or any other information that could lead to the location of the person. The number for the Tip Line is 704-487-0661 and when prompted for an extension, dial extension 727.
