South Mountain Family Camp Summer Day Camp
   South Mountain family Camp, 142 Mace Rd., Casar, NC  announces Summer Day Camp for students going into 1st through 6th grade.  June 23-27, 9:00-3:00. Only $50 for the whole week. Bring your lunch and come walk the P.A.T.H. with us. Learn about Christ through scripture, songs, crafts, games, creek stomping, hiking, water games. Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center
        Council on Aging/Senior Center, 100 T.R. Harris Drive, Shelby, NC will have the following events in February:
        “Bingo” - Each Monday night (except holidays), at the Senior Center. Doors open at 5:30 (no admittance after 7:00pm). Jackpot up to $500. Public invited 12 years and up.
            Thursday, June 26, 5:00pm - “Dine Around (Zaxby’s). Please call the Senior Center to reserve seating by Tuesday, June 24.
SOUTH MOUNTAINS STATE PARK ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS
                    Saturday, June 28 - “NC State Ranger”. What does a Park Ranger do on a day to day basis?  Meet in the Visitor Center auditorium at 11:00 am.
        Sunday, June 29 - “Fly Fishing 101” - Get Hooked! Whether you want to learn how to tie flies, develop your casting skills, or discover the joy and challenges of fly fishing for the first time, join anglers Jeff Newton and Bob Tupper at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm for an introductory class on fly fishing. All class materials will be provided free, and there will be optional fishing time in the Jacob Fork afterwards. North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission fishing regulations still apply.
        Sunday, June 29 - “Animals of the South Mountains”. Join a Park Ranger to learn about the many animals that call South Mountains home. The program will begin at 2:00 pm in the Visitor Center auditorium.
        South Mountains State Park is located south of Morganton off of old Highway 18.  We welcome the community to join us for our monthly educational interpretive programs. Call the park office at (828) 433-4772 for more information.
Lost Playwrights, Hendersonville
   Lost Playwrights will meet Saturday, June 28, from 2:00pm to  4:00pm, in Kapplan Auditorium of the Henderson County Library, 301 North Washington Street, Hendersonville, NC. There are no dues. All persons who are interested in any aspect of theatre or creative writing are encouraged to attend.
Fallston Fun Fest
   The Fallston Fun Fest will be Saturday, June 28, at the Fallston Elementary School, Fallston, NC. 5:00pm - Parade (line up starts at 4:30 on Wilson Rd.); 5:30pm - Opening ceremony; 5:30pm until 8:30pm - Kids games/rides -  Armbands $5 (including go fish and duck without armbands, these are a quarter each); Cake Walks; 5:30pm until 7:00pm - DJ with Calvin Hastings; 7:00pm until 10:00pm - Ocean Blvd.; 10:00pm - Fireworks. Food, hamburgers, hotdogs, BBQ (prepared by the Fallston Womans Club), Pizza and extras, ice cream, lemonades, funnel cakes and more. Plenty of food and fun for everyone. Life Enrichment Center Adult Day Care and Health Services
   Life Enrichment Center Adult Day Care and Health Services, 222 Kings Mountain Blvd., Kings Mountain, NC. How is caregiving like a circus? Find out at the Life Enrichment Center! This support group meeting for caregivers of individuals with dementia will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 5:30pm - 7:00pm. A free sitter service is available but must make reservation by June 27.         For caregivers of individuals with dementia, a discussion about the challenges of caregiving and how to meet those challenges and, a reminder to take care of you, the caregiver, will be, Tuesday, July 15, 5:30pm - 7:00, at 110 Life Enrichment Blvd., Shelby, NC. Cleveland County Animal Control New Hours
   The Cleveland County Animal Control has new operational hours. Starting July 1, 2014. The Shelter will open Monday thru Friday from 10:00am til 4:00pm. Cleveland County Animal Control is partnering with the Human Society of Charlotte to offer low cost Spay/Neuter services. Please contact CCAC for more information or to register your pet. Casar’s July 4th Celebration
   Casar’s July 4th Celebration will be Friday, July 4, 10:00am - 10:00pm, at the Casar Park. Fireworks Extravaganza, Live Music, DJ, Games, Hotdog Eating Contest 12:00pm., Scavenger Hunt, Catch the Grease Pig, Door Prizes, Bingo, Climb the Grease Pole, Face Painting, Bounce Jpise. Town of Lattimore 4th of July Parade
   Entries Needed for Lattimore 4th of July Parade. The Town of Lattimore is looking for individuals and businesses to participate in it’s annual Fourth of July Parade. Antique cars, tractors, churches, civic groups, and many other items and groups will be featured. Entries will begin lining up for the parade at 8:00am on Friday, July 4th on Oak Dr./Towery Road.
Association for the Welfare of Animals
        NFL (Neuter For Life) Draft is a spay/neuter program offered by Association for the Welfare of Animals of Cleveland County in conjunction with Foothills Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic of Hickory. Appointments to have your pet spayed or neutered may be made by calling 704-477-5662. Pets will be transported from Belwood, and pricing for July 14 range from $35 - $60. This includes feral cats and dogs up to 100 pounds!! Please call by July 1 to register your pet for this event!
Cherryville Little Theatre, Disney’s Aladdin, Jr.
   Cherryville Little Theatre is excited to announce the stage production of Disney’s Aladdin, Jr. There will be two evening performances schedule for Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26, 7:00pm. Two are two matinee performances on Saturday, July 26, 2:00pm and Sunday, July 27, 3:00pm. Tickets are $6 for students/seniors citizens and $8 for adults. Doors open 45 minutes prior to performances for ticket purchase or you may pre-buy tickets in the lobby of CLT from 1:00-3:00pm, Monday-Thursday, July 21 - July 24. Join them in the city of Agrabah, where you will see the fantastic tale of the street rat who became a prince!

Piecemakers Quilt Guild
        Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Lincoln Co. Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen St., Lincolnton. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting, visitors and new members are always welcome.         Kiwanis Club of Shelby is a group of professionals who are involved in the community and looking to change Cleveland County, one child at a time. This fundraising and project oriented club meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at noon at Deer Brook Restaurant, 201 Deer Brook Drive, Shelby, NC; or the 2nd Thursday evening of every month at 5:30pm at Dragonfly Wine Market, 101 West Warren Street, Shelby, NC. Mental Health Association of Cleveland County
        Survivors of Suicide Support Group meets twice a month, with a daytime and evening meeting. The Evening Group meets the 2nd Monday of every month from 6:30pm - 8:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer (502 W. Sumter Street, Shelby, NC).  The Daytime Group meets the last Tuesday of every month from 11:30am - 1:30pm at the Cleveland Memorial Library (104 Howie Drive, Shelby, NC). Sponsored by the Mental Health Association in Cleveland County.        PWP meets every Monday night at 7:00 pm. at the Shelby Presbyterian Church for educational programs and at other times as scheduled for monthly social activities including: dances, plays, and concerts.
