Relay for Life
Team Ollie will be having a Spaghetti Supper, Saturday, March 19, 2016, 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Friendship Masonic Lodge in Boiling Springs, NC. $10 a plate. Includes spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and drink. They will also be having a raffle for a set of Carolina Panthers acorn hole Boards. Raffle tickets are $5 each. The Kings Mountain Mauney Memorial Library
The Kings Mountain Mauney Memorial Library is sponsoring "Galaxy Quest" at the Gateway Trail in Kings Mountain, NC, along with the Cleveland County Astronomical Society, Friday, March 11, 2016, 6:00pm till 9:00pm. View the Solar scope of the sun, then hike up the trail to view the quarter moon and Jupiter and other celestial bodies of the night sky. This is a free family event!
Cherryville Little Theatre
Cherryville Little Theatre would like to invite you to journey "Into the Woods" to a place full of fairytale characters with a Brothers Grimm twist. There, you will find a baker and his wife who are frantically trying to undo a witch's curse, Cinderella, who is desperately trying to get to the ball and Jack, who would do just about anything for his pet cow, even if it means climbing a beanstalk. They will stop at nothing in order to have their wishes granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results. "Into the Woods", directed by Lauren Parker, is a Tony-award winning, musically sophisticated show by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim, that gives the opportunity to feature actors adept at dark comedy. The talented cast and crew will be taking this production to stage March 11, 12, 18, and 19, 2016 at 7:00pm and March 13 and 20, 2016, at 3:00pm. Cleveland County Astronomical Society & Mauney Memorial Library
Cleveland County Astronomical Society and Mauney Memorial Library Present "Galazy Quest" Friday, March 11, 2016, 6:00pm til 9:00pm, at Kings Mountain Gateway Trail, 807 S. Battleground Ave., Kings Mountain, NC. Bring your flashlight and walking shoes as the Solar viewing adventure begins at the Gateway Trail parking lot in Kings Mountain and continues up to the Plateau Trail after dark for more astronomical viewings. Broad River Genealogical Society
Broad River Genealogical Society, 1145 County Home Road, Shelby, NC, will hold their General Meeting Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Neal Senior Center, 100 T. R. Harris Dr., Shelby, NC, at 3:00pm. Park and enter at the rear of the building. The speaker will be James "Jimmy" Holland, local genealogist, historian and retired librarian from Cleveland County, and he will lead you down the path he took and the resources he used to research his Holland line. Jimmy is a native of Cleveland County. He graduated from Crest High School and Gardner-Webb College. He has worked many years at the Cleveland County Memorial Library. Open to all persons interested in local history and family lineages. Fellowship and light refreshments served after presentations.

"Hospice Volunteer Training Class" Hospice training is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice care and the services provided to the community. This 12-hour course is free. The Cleveland County Extension & Community Association (ECA) Spring Fashion Show and Luncheon will be held Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Center, 130 South Post Road, Suite 1, Shelby, NC. Shelby High School
Shelby High School will host a Military Extravaganza on Saturday, March 19, 2016, beginning at 9:30am till 4:30pm along with a honor guard to present the colors. There will be gift bags that we will hand out to the soldiers. The speakers of the event will receive a rose, only 12 can be given out. There will be different donation tables: cancer, food, money, clothes. For the end of the service there will be a honor guard to present the colors along with a moment of silence. So come out and support the United States Military.
Kings Mountain Historical Museum
Kings Mountain Historical Museum's 30th Anniversary Celebration will be Saturday, March 19, 2016, 10:00am - 4:00pm, featuring a full day of Battle of Kings Mountain themed activities. 10:00am-4:00pm Revolutionary War era reenactors will perform demonstrations throughout the day. At 12:00 noon: "Every Insult and Indignity: the Life, Genius and Legacy of Major Patrick Ferguson" Program and Firearms Demo by Ricky Roberts. 2:00pm - 4:00pm: The dulcet tunes of the Log Cabin String Band will transport visitors back in time at the Museum Commons. Foothills Post-Polio Support Group
The Foothills Post-Polio Support Group, formerly called the Cleveland County Post-Polio Support Group, will hold the meeting on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 6:00 pm, at the conference room of the Life Enrichment Center of Shelby, NC. The conference room is located at the back of the building. The center is located off Hwy 18 North on Life Enrichment Blvd, just north of Cornerstone Dentistry. The program will be presented by Dianne Garner on "Nutrition". Each person attending should bring his/her own meal. Drinks: coffee and water will be provided. American Legion Post 82 will have a Cruise-In Fund Raiser on Saturday, April 16, 2016, 10:00am to 2:00pm, 1628 S. Lafayette St. Suggested donation for vehicles entered in the cruise-in is $10. All vehicles, makes, models, motorcycles, anything that rolls is welcome. Fun family event featuring a silent auction, door prizes, music and serving our famous grilled hotdogs.
