May 1, 2015 - Family Bake Sale at Medical Arts Pharmacy on Grover Street, 7:30am until. May 5, 2015, 6:00pm - Cleveland Vol Fire Department - Leadership Team. May 12, 2015 - Cleveland Vol Fire Department - Shirts and Bank Day. May 15, 2015 - Survivors drop-in begins a 4:00pm (t-shirt and goody bag pickup at this time) Survivors Walk begins at 6:00pm.
Parade of Tables - Hosted by Angels in the Outfield Relay for Life Team of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, Saturday, March 14, 2015. Double Springs Relay for Life yard sale to be held March 27 and 28. Clean out your closets, garage, and basement and donate it all. Then, come out to shop to help stop cancer. You can begin now bringing your unwanted treasures to the hand bell room in the Family Life Center. The yard sale and a hot dog supper will be held 5:00-7:00pm, Friday, March 27, 2015. Shop and eat supper, too. Saturday, March 28, the sale begins at 8:00am and ends at noon. A biscuit breakfast will be available. There will be sausage, ham, and butter biscuits, jam and juice, and coffee. All proceeds will benefit the Double Springs Relay for Life team.
Team Ollie will be having a fish fry fundraiser and scholarship fund in memory of Alan Biggerstaff, who Team Ollie is name, on Saturday, March 28, 2015, 12:00 noon - 7:00pm, at the Friendship Masonic Lodge in Boiling Springs, NC. Shine a Light on the Fight Against Cancer - During the Relay For Life Cermony, votive candles are lit inside of personalized bags to shine a light on the fight against cancer. The power of this ceremony lies in providing an opportunity for people to share their grief and find hope. During the Luminaria Ceremony, candles and torches brighten the way for Relay For Life walkers through the night. In the soft glow of candlelight, we reflect on the courage and strength of all who are affected by cancer. Early Bird Opportunity: order torches by March meeting and have the matching picture on the ten bags that come with the torch.

The Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society
The Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society will work on the public rose garden at the Lincolnton Memorial Library on Saturday, March 14, 2015, 10:00am. In 2011, our rose society put in this rose garden at the Charles R. Jonas Library in memory of Tracy Jenkins, Lincoln County Horticulturist. Members of the rose society continue to maintain this beautiful garden for the community to enjoy. The middle of March is the time for pruning roses in our area and we will be weeding, fertilizing and getting ready for the growing season. Visitors and new members are welcome. Rain date will be 3/21/15.
Cleveland County Post-Polio Support Group
The Foothills Post-Polio Support Group, formerly called the Cleveland County Post-Polio Support Group, will hold the March meeting at the conference room of the Life Enrichment Center of Shelby on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 6:00pm. The conference room is located at the back of the building. The center is located off Hwy 18 North on Life Enrichment Blvd, just north of Cornerstone Dentistry. Each person attending should bring his/her own meal. Drinks- coffee and water - will be provided. The program for March will be a continuation of a January presentation made by Janet Walker about the nurses who served in the polio era. In addition, Lynn Ledford will share her story about polio. Cleveland County Schools Preschool Screening
Screening for the 2015-2016 preschool classes will be: March 16-20, 2015 (no make-up screening will be offered). The location will be at Office of School Readiness, 308 W. Marion Street, Building B, Shelby, NC 28150 (location of old Shelby Middle School, small building near tennis courts. Parking is in back). This is for children who live in Cleveland County and will be 4 years old by August 31, 2015. Hearts for Hospice Fundraiser - For a $1 donation (or more), you can purchase a heart to display in your home, office, church, anywhere you wish. There is a place for you to put "In Honor/Memory" of a loved one and a line for "From". Hearts can be purchased at the Hospice Administration Building or by calling 704-487-4677 ext. 166.
Hospice Volunteer Training Class - Monday, March 16, Tuesday, March 17, and Thursday, March 19, 2015. 9:00am - 1:00pm or 5:30pm - 9:30pm, at the Hospice Cleveland County Administration Building. Hospice training is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice care and the services provided to the community. This 12-hour course is free. To get credit for the entire course, you will need to attend all days at one of the times offered. For more information, contact ext. 111.
"Reflections" Support Group, Tuesdays, March 17, 24, 31 and April 7, 14, 2015, 5:30-7:00pm - This grief sharing group meets for six weeks. No cost and open to anyone who has lost a loved one. If you plan to attend one of the groups, please make every effort to atttend all six sessions. Registration forms are available at HCC Administrative Offices or by call 704-487-4677.
Chicken Dinner and Dessert Sale, Friday, March 27, 2015, at Hospice Cleveland County, 3:00pm - 7:00pm, $12 a plate (1/2 Chicken, slaw, pickles, baked beans, roll, dessert). Chicken prepared by Doug Fortenberry. Drive-thru only. Proceeds support Hospice Cleveland County.
Springs Memorial Service - Patients that have died September 1, 2014 through February 28, 2015 will be remembered. Family members will receive a special invitation. This will be Sunday, April 19, 2015. Time TBA, at First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC.
Abuse Prevention Council & Aldersgate UMC Partner on Family Cards & Games Fundraiser

City of Shelby Parks and Recreation Dept.
The City of Shelby Parks and Recreation Department is requesting proposals for rights to operate food and beverage concessions as described in the Concession Services Agreement. Interested parties must submit their Bid Proposal no later than Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 2:00pm. Bids must be delivered to the Parks and Recreation Department either in person or mail. Bids will be opened the day and time stated above. The City is not obligated to accept any bid for any reason, and reserves the right to negotiate with the apparent high bidder prior to awarding bid. He was known and respected throughout the county. Communities In Schools of Cleveland County is counting on county-wide support for 19th Annual Communities In Schools Golf Tournament. All proceeds support their goal to keep Cleveland County children in school and graduating. Your donation helps place another caring adult in 14 of our district schools to offer "whatever it takes" support to at risk children K-12. The community's efforts are working -- graduation rates are up across the district. You can contribute as an event sponsor and by registering a team in the tournament.
