Kings Mountain Woman's Club Yard Sale
The Kings Mountain Woman's Club will be holding an Indoor Yard and Bake Sale Saturday, March 10, 2018, 7:30am until 11:30am. All proceeds go directly into their Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship Fund. Huge variety of items from household, craft, decorative, toys and clothing. Yummy baked goods will also be available. Crouse Community History and Photo Project
Crouse Community History and Photo Project is pleased to announce that special guest W. Ted Alexander is scheduled to speak at the Tuesday, March 13, 2018 meeting, at 4:00pm. Ted's discussion will involve an overall general talk about Preservation North Carolina and how they have protected over 800 historically significant properties throughout NC over the past 80 years. In the presentation, he will discuss our Endangered Properties Program in specific and, through slides, show examples of the different types of properties that they have protected and the different scenarios that have led to their preservation, including some examples in Lincoln County. Admission is free and the public is invited. This event will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Crouse United Methodist Church, GPS address: 3311 Crouse School Road, Crouse, NC 28033.
Casar's St. Patrick's Day Easter Bash
Casar's St. Patrick's Day Easter Bash will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 on St. Patrick's Day from 12:00-3:00pm at Casar Park. Cleveland County Schools Preschool Screening
Cleveland County Schools Preschool Screening for the 2018-2019 preschool classes will be March 19-23, 2018 (No make-up screening will be offered.) Location: Office of School Readiness, 308 W. Marion Street, Building B, Shelby, NC 28150 (location of old Shelby Middle School, small building near tennis courts. Parking is in back). This is for children who live in Cleveland County and will be 4 years old by August 31, 2018. Post-Polio Support Group Meeting
This month's Post-Polio Support Group Meeting will be held Monday, March 19, 2018 at 6:00pm. Mr. Tom Forney will give a program about his life experiences! Everyone attending should bring their meal. Coffee, and water will be provided. If you are a polio survivor and would like to attend, we would love to see you there! Feel free to bring a caregiver with you. City of Shelby Spring Bulky Item Pick-up
The City of Shelby Solid Waste Department is having the Spring Bulky Item Pick-up the week of April 16-19, 2018. Beginning on April 13, you may begin placing items such as: furniture, boxes, mattresses, and bagged clothes, etc., on the curbside without being subject to citations of fines. Please DO NOT place any items in the street or mix these items with limbs, leaves or grass. The Solid Waste Department does not pick-up items such as appliances, electronics, telelvisions, tires, building materials, paints, oils, and batteries. These items may be taken to the Cleveland County Landfills. Please have your bulky items available by 7:00am, they will be picked up only on the same day during the week that your garbage is scheduled for pick up. Items placed or left on the curb after April 19 will be subject to citations and fines. There will be no leaf or brush collection during bulky item pick up week
Kings Mountain Historical Museum
Kings Mountain Historical Museum, 100 East Kings Mountain Street, Kings Mountain, NC is features a traveling exhibit from Gaston County Museum, "From Over Here to Over There: World War I in the Southwest Piedmont" going on thru May 12, 2018. Discover how Cleveland and Gaston Counties did their bit when the United States joined the Great War in 1916. Visitors will be able to visualize the greater timeline of the war, see where this region fit in the wider conflict, and discover some of the specific regiments and combat local men engaged in.
Habitat for Humanity Cleveland County
Habitat is taking initial applications for its 2018 Home Build now through April 15, 2018. The applicant must be able to make no interest house payments of $475 to $550 a month, must have a real need for better housing, must live in Cleveland County, and must be willing to partner with Habitat by completing "sweat equity" on the home and by attending Homeowner Workshops. The typical Habitat home has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and is approximately 1100 square feet. Applications may be picked up at the Habitat ReStore, 323 W. Grover St., Shelby or to receive an application by mail, call the Habitat office at 704-482-6200. In order to be considered, completed initial applications must be received by the Habitat office no later than April 15, 2018. Habitat is an Equal Housing Opportunity organization.
