Piecemakers Quilt Guild
  Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10AM - 12PM at the Lincoln County Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, room 319. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting. Visitors and new members are welcome. South Mountains State Park
   Saturday, May 12 - “Streamside Hike” - Join a Park Ranger at the Jacob Fork Parking Area at 11:00 am for a streamside hike along the Jacob Fork River.
   Saturday, May 12 “Bats” Are bats blind?  Do they fly into your hair?  Do they turn into vampires?  Join a Park Ranger at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm to learn some Bat facts and have an opportunity to view some Bats.
   Sunday, May 13 - “Animals of the South Mountains” - Join a Park Ranger to learn about the many animals that call South Mountains home.  The program will begin at 2:00 pm in the Visitor Center auditorium.

    Solid Rock Garden, Lawndale

   Solid Rock Community garden in Lawndale will have regular work nights on Monday evenings at 6:00 pm, now through the summer months. If you enjoy gardening and want to help grow nutritious food for our neighbors - please join us. Casar Elementary Plant Sale
   Casar Elementary students will have their annual plant sale & yard sale on Friday, May 11th from 8:30am until 1:00pm at the school. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to Relay For Life. Plants available will include: herbs, shrubs, green bean plants, flowers, tomatoes and irises with prices ranging from $1.00 to $5.00. Chocolate mint tea will be available for 50¢ per cup.
All You Can Eat Breakfast, Fatz

AAU/YBOA Basktball
   Looking for and Girls age of 14-16 that live in the Shelby, Cherryville surrounding Area. If your child wants to play basketball this summer for AAU/YBOA LEAGUE please give us a call. There is a uniform and registration fee of 200 dollars pay for the cost of all games. These games will run through the winter. They also teach fundamental and work on there weak aspect of their game. Cleveland County Health Dept. Diabetes Class
   There will be a free diabetes education class at the Cleveland County Health Department on May 14. They will meet in the third floor conference room from 1:00-4:00. For questions or information contact the diabetes program at 704-484-5225.
Life Enrichment Adult Day Care Dementia Seminar
   Family caregivers are invited to ask questions and learn about dementia at a meeting Tuesday, May 15, at the Life Enrichment Adult Day Care in Shelby. The meeting is open to the public and free of charge. A free sitter service is available for the person with dementia but a reservation is required by May 8 for the sitter service. Call 704-484-0405. The program will last from 5:30 to 7 p.m. but caregivers are encouraged to arrive or leave whenever it is convenient.

Coin Collectors Meeting, Cleveland County Library
   Attention Coin collectors! Wednesday evening May 16 will be the first meeting of the Cleveland County Coin Club from 6 to 7:30 PM at the small conference room in the Cleveland County Library located ar 104 Howie Dr. Shelby. Please join us and meet other collectors of varying interests and areas of expertise. We welcome everyone from those who inherited coins to avid collectors who wish to share their interest in coin collecting. No drink or food within the library, cell phones need to be turned off. If you can’t attend, the June meeting is scheduled for the same time, Tuesday June 12th at the same location. Please bring coins you’d enjoy showing off and other numismatic related materials. Carey Heavner Foundation Golf Tournament
   The 2nd Annual Carey Heavner Foundation (captains choice) Golf tournament will be held on Saturday, May 19 at Deer Brook Golf Club, 210 Deer Brook Dr., Shelby. Tee-off 1:00 PM. Entry Fee: $240.00 per 4 man team(Includes: green fees, cart) and hickory smoked B-B-Q following the event. Prizes: A Brand new Car will  be given away to the 1st hole in one as well as other prizes. Every participant will also receive a free golf tournament T-Shirt. Cherryville Little Theater Audition
   The Cherryville Little Theater will be presenting the production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr. on  Aug 3rd, 4th, 5th, 10th & 11th. Auditions for the performance will take place at the theater, 301 W. Academy Street, Cherryville, NC 28021, on May 21st and May 22nd from 6 PM till 8 PM with call backs on May 24th. Rehearsals will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights from June 4th until performance dates. Additional practices may be required during certain periods. There is a $30 participation fee if cast with each additional sibling $10. Come prepared to perform songs from The Little Mermaid movie or musical, read scenes and demonstrate dance abilities. Cleveland County Humane Society 8th Annual “Paws And Balls” Golf Tournament
   The Cleveland County Humane Society’s 8th Annual “Paws and Balls” Golf Tournament will be held at Deer Brook Golf Club on Friday, May 25. If you would like to help the Cleveland County Humane Society in helping homeless animals find their “forever home”, you may make donations for post-tourney prizes and food and/or drinks for participants. Promote your business! All food/product sponsors get sign at registration desk/club house. Sponsor a hole: Bronze $100; Silver $250; Gold $500 or Corporate $1000 or more. All proceeds will directly benefit the animals of Cleveland County b y continuing to provide a low cost spay/neuter program, promote rabies vaccinations and educate people of Cleveland County. Cleveland County Schools Summer Camp
   Cleveland County Schools is currently taking registrations for Summer Camp. The program is designed to provide supervised care for children in grades K-5 including rising Kindergarten and rising 6th grade students. $85 per week for the first child and $80.00 for each additional child attending from the same family. $10.00 Kidz Around T-Shirt fee $30.00 registration fee required for each child and is  NON-REFUNDABLE LOCATION: SHELBY INTERMEDIATE  SCHOOL. Children in the summer program may participate in the Cleveland County Schools Free Lunch Program. Arts/Crafts, Recreation, Swimming. Field Trips, Good News Club.
