May 16, 2015 - 2nd Annual Relay For Life Hope Jam, at the Ky Renaissance Fair in Eminence, Ky. Gates open at 5:30 starting with Chase Skinner, Six Mile South and our headlinder Confederate Railroad. The Cherryville Little Theatre
The Cherryville Little Theatre, 301 Academy Street, Cherryville, NC, would like to invite you to the auditions for "Shrek, Jr". Ages 11-18 are welcome to join us on Monday, May 18, 2015 or Tuesday, May 19, 2015, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, at Cherryville Little Theatre. Rehearsals will be held Monday - Friday, July 20, 2015 through August 6, 2015, from 9:00am - 3:00pm. Performance Dates will be August 6-9, 2015. Students should be prepared to sing, read dialogue and perform a dance combination. An $80 registration fee is required after cast list is posted and role is accepted. The Cleveland County Arts Council, 111 S. Washington St., Shelby, NC, will hold this exhibit which features a rich and varied showcase of the talent that lies in Cleveland County. Local artists (18 and up) exhibit their work and compete for awards totaling $2,050 in this prestigious competition. Everyone in Cleveland County is invited to submit artwork! 6th Annual Casar Masonic Charity Ride & Poker Run
The 6th Annual Casar Masonic Charity Ride & Poker Run will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015. Ride will benefit The Masonic Home for Children and Whitestone. Sign in by 10:00am. Bikes leave at 12:00pm. Pleasant Grove Baptist Church 3932 Pleasant Grove Church Road, Shelby, NC, will be holding a Hot Dog Lunch Fundraiser and bake sale for Tammy Walker on Saturday, May 30, 2015, 11:30am to 1:30pm, at the church, to help with some of her medical expenses. Tammy has been battling cancer for some time now. Hotdog plate includes (2 hotdogs), drink, chips, and dessert for $6.
Shelby High School Class Reunion
The Shelby High School class of 1965 is planning a 50 year reunion Friday, May 15, 2015, and Saturday, May 16, 2015. Friday, from 6:00-8:00pm, there will be a "meet and greet" at the Don Gibson Theatre. Hor d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available. At 8:00pm, there will be an optional concert of R&B oldies featuring "Images." There is a $20 charge for the concert. On Saturday from 2:00-4:00pm, there will be a tour of Shelby High, and placing of a plaque marking a Ginko Tree given by this class. It will be followed by an ice cream social. That evening, from 6:00-7:00pm, there will be a social time and cash bar at the Legrand Center. From 7:00-8:00pm, there will be a meal catered by Smoke on the Square. And from 8:00-11:00pm, there will be a time to relive the memories. The cost for admission to the Legrand Center is $50 per person. Dress is casual for all events.
