Piecemakers Quilt Guild
  Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10AM - 12PM at the Lincoln County Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, room 319. We are here to teach and encou age those interested in the art of quilting. Visitors and new members are welcome. Meetings include a business meeting, show and tell, and a program related to quilting. The  June 6th meeting will feature Linda Gunter demonstrating the X Block ruler. South Mountains State Park
   Saturday, May 26 - “Streamside Hike” - Join a Park Ranger at the Jacob Fork Parking Area at 11:00 am for a streamside hike along the Jacob Fork River.    
   Saturday, May 26 - “South Mountains State Park:  The Past, the Present, and the Future”. Join Ranger Waltz at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm for an informative presentation on the history and resources that have shaped South Mountains into the largest state park in North Carolina.
   Sunday, May 27 - “South Mountains State Park:  The Past, the Present, and the Future”. Join Ranger Waltz at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm for an informative presentation on the history and resources that have shaped South Mountains into the largest state park in North Carolina.
   Saturday, June 2  - National Trails Day -   “Streamside Hike” - Join a Park Ranger at the Jacob Fork Parking Area at 11:00 am for a streamside hike along the Jacob Fork River.
   Saturday, June 2  -  “Tree ID Hike” - Join a Park Ranger for a 1.0 mile hike along the Hemlock Nature Trail.  Tree identification will be the focus of this hike.  Meet at the Jacob Fork Parking Area at 2:00 pm.
    Sunday, June 3 - “Bats” - Are bats blind?  Do they fly into your hair?  Do they turn into vampires?  Join a Park Ranger at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm to learn some Bat facts and have an opportunity to view some Bats.
 Solid Rock Garden, Lawndale

   Solid Rock Community garden in Lawndale will have regular work nights on Monday evenings at 6:00 pm, now through the summer months. If you enjoy gardening and want to help grow nutritious food for our neighbors - please join us. State Employees Credit Union Hospice Bake Sale

Cleveland County Humane Society 8th Annual “Paws And Balls” Golf Tournament
   The Cleveland County Humane Society’s 8th Annual “Paws and Balls” Golf Tournament will be held at Deer Brook Golf Club on Friday, May 25. If you would like to help the Cleveland County Humane Society in helping homeless animals find their “forever home”, you may make donations for post-tourney prizes and food and/or drinks for participants. Promote your business! All food/product sponsors get sign at registration desk/club house. Sponsor a hole: Bronze $100; Silver $250; Gold $500 or Corporate $1000 or more. All proceeds will directly benefit the animals of Cleveland County by continuing to provide a low cost spay/neuter program, promote rabies vaccinations and educate people of Cleveland County. KM National Military Park Presents
“Military Through The Ages”
   On May 25 and 26 Kings Mountain National Military Park will host its annual “Military Through the Ages.” The event will feature Americans under arms as they appeared during the great conflicts of our nation. The timeline will traverse the Revolutionary War thru modern times. You are invited to attend and converse with the re-enactors about their weapons, tactics, how they camped, and what they ate. There will also be firing demonstrations for the public. There is no fee.
Belwood Day
  Belwood Day will be held on Saturday, May 26, 10:00 am -1:00 pm. Entertainment by: Belwood Bells, His Glory Quartet & Boy Scouts. Hotdogs, Hamburgers & Ice Cream. 7 am Yard Sale. Everyone Welcome: Held at Old Belwood School, located at the intersection of Carpenter’s Grove Church Road and Belwood-Lawndale Road.
Lost Playwrights Of Western North Carolina
  The Lost  Playwrights  of  Western  North  Carolina  will  meet  Saturday  May 26   from   2:00 - 4:00  PM  in  the  Kaplan Auditorium, Hendersonville Public Library, Main Branch.  All  persons  interested  in  any  aspect  of  theatre  are  invited  to  attend.
Shelby Life Enrichment Center
   “Victory Over Stroke” meeting May 28 - Thriving rather than just surviving will be the focus of the Victory Over Stroke meeting Monday, May 28, at the Shelby Life Enrichment Center. Jim Niskala and his wife, Gayle, and Ann Kendrick will share their stories about thriving despite a stroke. The meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m., is free of charge and open to anyone who has had a stroke, their loved ones and  interested community members.Life Enrichment Center is located at 110 Life Enrichment Blvd., just off Fallston Road between Cornerstone Dental Associates and Teddy and Meekins Law offices. In Full Bloom: Gardening & Agriculture Exhibit
   The exhibit, In Full Bloom: Gardening & Agriculture in Kings Mountain will be on display now through June 2nd, Tuesday - Saturday, 10AM - 4PM at the Kings Mountain Historical Museum (100 E. Mountain Street, Kings Mountain, NC 28086). In addition to the exhibit, KMHM will host the following children & family programs. On Tuesday, May 22 at 4:30PM Flower Arranging Workshop for Children ages 9 – 12 by Susan Patterson, Sunflowers by Susan and Thursday, May 31 at 6PM – Julie Flowers, Area Consumer Horticulture Agent, Gaston and Cleveland Counties will share techniques for your vegetable garden at the Family Gardening Fun Night. 28th Annual Dixie Rodders Car Show
   The 28th Annual Dixie Rodders Car Show (presented by Dixie Rodders, Shelby, NC)  will be held on Saturday, June 2. Proceeds will go to charities chosen by Dixie Rodders. 1972 and older cars. Pre-1973 Street Rods, Classics, Muscle Cars and Rat Rods. Saturday registration is from 10:00-2:00. Awards: 4:00 p.m. Awards will be given for the “Top 20” cars. Door prizes will be given out during the day. The event will be held around the courtsquare in downtown Shelby. Pre-registration is $15.00, or $20.00 the day of the show.
Fatz Café Hosts Pancake Fundraiser
   Fatz Café will host an upcoming pancake fundraiser at 1235 E. Dixon Blvd.., Shelby, on Saturday, June 2. The benefit is for Centri-Kid Campers at Eastside Baptist Chuch, 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased by contacting the church office at 704-487-9682. Please come and support this group by helping to send 3rd, 4th and 5th graders to camp.
Cuts 4 Hospice Cut-A-Thon
   Cuts 4 Hospice Cut-A-Thon will be held at Trendsetters, 1632 S. DeKalb St., Shelby on Friday, June 8, 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Haircuts are available in honor of or in memory of your loved one. Casar Masonic Lodge Charity Motorcycle Ride
   Casar Masonic Lodge Charity Motorcycle Ride will be held on Saturday, June 9, 11:00 a.m. Cost will be $25.00 for a single rider and $35.00 for double. Check in from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Everyone must be back by 4:00 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Masonic Children’s Home and the Masonic and Eastern Star Home. The ride starts and ends at Casar Fire Dept. on NC-10. Drawing for door prizes and food will be served after the ride. All riders will get a shirt.    Shelby City Park will hold summer gymnastics classes in the form of weekly clinics beginning June 11. Classes are for ages 3 and up for a weekly fee of $40. Crest Charger Horseshoe Club Golf Tournament
   The 16th Annual Crest Charger Horseshoe Club Golf Tournament is scheduled for June 15th, 1:30 p.m. at RiverBend Golf Club. We will be giving away lots of prizes including $1000 to gross winners and $500 to net winners plus Cancun Vacation Package to Flight Winners of Both Divisions. We’re also offering a chipping and putting contest package that includes a free three night hotel getaway. Cost for this package is $30. Please note this package is optional and does not include mulligans or red tees. See attachment. The format will be three player team captain’s choice. 10th Annual Bruce Ward Memorial Golf Tournament, KM Country Club
   The 10th Annual Bruce Ward Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on June 16 at the Kings Mountain Country Club. It will be a Captain’s Choice tournament with the proceeds going to the Shriner’s Hospitals. Hole sponsorships are still available. This tournament is held to enable the White Plains Shrine Club to continue its work in helping burned and crippled children.
