Veterans Memorial Day Program, Cleveland County
Cleveland County, Veterans Advisory Council will be hosting it's annual Veterans Memorial Day Program, Sunday, May 29, 2016, at 2:00pm, at the Cleveland Memorial Park, 1225 College Avenue, Highway 150, near Boiling Springs, NC. (Inclement weather: Mausoleum Chapel). Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. Please come out and remember our fallen heroes.
Dover Foundation YMCA
Swimming is an important life skill, as well as great exercise! During group or Private Swim Lessons at the YMCA your child will learn the skills they need to safely enjoy any aquatic environment! Private lessons are on-going and available at your convenience. 1 Session consists of 5 lessons of 30 minutes each. The cost is $50 for members and $90 for potential members! Group lesson sessions are 2 weeks long and run Monday-Thursday of both weeks from 5:45-6:30. The cost is $40 for members and $65 for potential members! Memorial Day Ceremony, Casar
Monday, May 30, 2016, a Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at 11:00am at Casar Park. There will be a Dedication of the new monument honoring all of our Veterans at the Ceremony. Free reception after the ceremony. Everyone is welcome!
12th Annual Renee Ledford Memorial Party and Poker Run
The 12th Annual Renee Ledford Memorial Party and Poker Run will be held at a new location, Fri.-Sat., June 3-4, 2016, 212 Independent Way (Race Path Church Road), Ellenboro, NC (event previously held at Circle J Music Park). Gate opens Friday at 10:00am. Admission $20 for the weekend. $10 Friday night only. All proceeds to benefit the Cleveland Rutherford Kidney Association. Cleveland County Branch NAACP
The Cleveland County Branch NAACP will be hosting its Annual Rev. M. L. Campbell Membership Banquet on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 6:00pm at the Shiloh Baptist Church Mary Weathers Family Life Center, 1000 Frederick Street, Shelby, NC 28150. The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Travis McEntyre, Pastor of the Harvest House Baptist Church, Mooresboro, NC, and President of the Rutherford County Branch NAACP. You are invited to come out and witness this spirit-filled, dynamic speaker. Ads are available. Hospice Volunteer Training Class - Hospice training is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice care and the services provided to the community. This 12-hour course is free. Camp Mostly Smiles - This is a one-day retreat for children ages 6-16 who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Participants will have the opportunity to express their grief through writing, crafts, play activities and group discussions. Memory Bear & Pillow Workshop - Participants will have the opportunity to make a teddy bear or pillow out of a loved one's shirt or other article of clothing. "Reflections" Sharing Group - This grief sharing group meets for six weeks. No cost and open to anyone who has lost a loved one. 4-H Youth Development's Summer Fun Program
4-H Youth Development's Summer Fun Program is an extension of the Cleveland County 4-H program. 4-H offers camps, classes, competitions, group experiences, teaching and learning opportunities for youth ages 5-18. Solid Rock Garden, Lawndale
Solid Rock Garden Work Day will be Thursday, June 9, 2016 starting at 5:30pm. An existing community garden on the grounds of the Upper Cleveland Rescue Squad (1032 W Stage Coach Trail, Lawndale, NC 28090). People are invited to grow food for themselves & local food pantry. The garden needs quite a bit of attention/love and all help is appreciated! Bring gardening tools and gloves. Water and food provided. All skill levels are welcome!
