Piecemakers Quilt Guild
Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10AM - 12PM at the Lincoln County Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, room 319. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting. Visitors and new members are welcome. Meetings include a business meeting, show and tell, and a program related to quilting. Solid Rock Garden, Lawndale
Solid Rock Community garden in Lawndale will have regular work nights on Monday evenings at 6:00 pm, now through the summer months. If you enjoy gardening and want to help grow nutritious food for our neighbors - please join us. A Free Financial Seminar on Trading Stocks will be held on Saturday, May 5. It will be in the Meeting Room at Cleveland County Memorial Library from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm. The speaker will be Roger Reynolds. He was a broker for 28 years mostly with E F Hutton.
Casar Elementary Plant Sale
Casar Elementary students will have their annual plant sale & yard sale on Friday, May 11th from 8:30am until 1:00pm at the school. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to Relay For Life. Plants available will include: herbs, shrubs, green bean plants, flowers, tomatoes and irises with prices ranging from $1.00 to $5.00. Chocolate mint tea will be available for 50¢ per cup.

4th Annual “Equestrians For The Cure” Ride
“Riding For A Cure” The 4th annual ‘Equestrians for the Cure” trail ride to fight Multiple Sclerosis will be on Saturday, May 5th, 2012. The location will be Hollis, NC. We would like to encourage all equestrians to support this event. The cost is $30.00 per rider which includes a t-shirt and lunch. The money raised at this event will go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to be used for research. There has been great progress toward new treatments this past year. The “Equestrians for the Cure” trail rides have raised over $3,000 each year for 3 years, starting in 2009. Zumba Fitness Fiesta - Relay For Life
Come join the party! It’s a Zumba Fiesta. Hospice Cleveland County
Hospice Cleveland County will hold “Camp Mostly Smiles”, a one-day retreat for children ages 6-16 who are grieving the loss of a loved one on Saturday, May 5, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to express their grief through writing, crafts, play activities and group discussions. Professionals who are trained in grief and loss will facilitate the retreat. Please RSVP to ext. 166 if you plan to attend. The event will be held in Hospice Cleveland County Administration Building.
It’s time to Spring Clean! Please clean out your food pantry and donate canned goods to Hospice to support their patients and families in need. They are in need of canned goods (not outdated and no homemade canned food please; frozen breakfast or dinner entrees (ex. Banquet or Michellina). The Shelby Lions Club is sponsoring a golf tournament Monday, May 7, at Deerbrook Country Club. It is a 4 person Captain’s Choice event, and fees are $60 per player or $240 per team. Cash and other prizes will be offered. Proceeds will be used for the SHS Scholarship Fund and Cleveland County Hearing & Sight Conservation needs. AAU/YBOA Basktball
Looking for and Girls age of 14-16 that live in the Shelby, Cherryville surrounding Area. If your child wants to play basketball this summer for AAU/YBOA LEAGUE please give us a call. There is a uniform and registration fee of 200 dollars pay for the cost of all games. These games will run through the winter. They also teach fundamental and work on there weak aspect of their game. Life Enrichment Adult Day Care Dementia Seminar
Family caregivers are invited to ask questions and learn about dementia at a meeting Tuesday, May 15, at the Life Enrichment Adult Day Care in Shelby. The meeting is open to the public and free of charge. A free sitter service is available for the person with dementia but a reservation is required by May 8 for the sitter service. Call 704-484-0405. Cleveland County Schools Summer Camp
Cleveland County Schools is currently taking registrations for Summer Camp. The program is designed to provide supervised care for children in grades K-5 including rising Kindergarten and rising 6th grade students. $85 per week for the first child and $80.00 for each additional child attending from the same family. $10.00 Kidz Around T-Shirt fee $30.00 registration fee required for each child and is NON-REFUNDABLE LOCATION: SHELBY INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL.
