"Memory Making with Ornaments" - Participants will have the opportunity to make holiday ornaments in memory of their loved one. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. CCRM Hosts 4th Annual Celebrate Hope Banquet
Cleveland County Rescue Mission announces today that it will host its Fourth Annual Celebrate Hope Banquet on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church (606 South Dekalb Street, Shelby). Cost for tickets is $10 per person and all proceeds will be used to provide food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, medical assistance for the poor, and a renewed sense of self-worth for so many. The event will feature a homemade meal and desserts as well as special presentations by two program graduates who will share their celebrations of hope with those in attendance. Dover Theatre, Gardner Webb University
A Cappella Concert to Benefit Local Hunger Featuring "Crest High School's Tonal Spectrum and Virtuosic and Gardner-Webb's Acafelons", will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015, 7:00pm, at Dover Theatre Gardner-Webb University. Tickets will be $10 at the door, also available at The Rag Bag in Shelby, NC and Gifted and inside Broad River Coffee House in Boiling Springs, NC. All proceeds go to Feeding Kids Cleveland County, specifically, to fill boxes of food to deliver to needy kids homes for school breaks.
Foothills Post-Polio Support Group
The Foothills Post- Polio Support Group, formerly called the Cleveland County Post-Polio Support Group, will hold the November meeting at the conference room of the Life Enrichment Center of Shelby on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 6:00 in the evening. The conference room is located at the back of the building. The center is located off Hwy 18 North on Life Enrichment Blvd, just north of Cornerstone Dentistry. Each person attending should bring his/her own meal. Drinks- coffee and water - will be provided. The program will be given by Shirley Sparks as she tells her story of surviving polio and her success with acupuncture. If you are a polio survivor please plan to attend. Cliffords Army's Annual Santa Pics and Holiday Bake Sale
Cliffords Army Rescue, a 501c3 non profit animal rescue, will once again host its annual Santa Pics and Holiday Bake Sale on Saturday, November 21, 2015, 10:00am to 4:00pm, at Tractor Supply Company, 1665 East Dixon Boulevard, Shelby, NC. Every year some of the best local bakers contribute great cakes, pies, cookies, candy, brownies, cupcakes, breads, and much more for the public to purchase before the holiday season. Cliffords picked the Saturday before Thanksgiving several years ago to help the public take the work out of the holidays but still have a homemade dessert for the season. Along with the bake sale, the public can get their four legged and two legged family's picture made with Santa Claus. A 5 x 7 photo is printed for you while you wait for only $5. Cliffords will also email the files to you for $10. This year Santa Claus will arrive from the North Pole at 10:00am and be available till 4:00pm for pictures. This is a once a year event so get those babies out there for their Christmas photos. This year everyone that purchases a $5 Santa pic will be able to enter a free drawing for a canvas print of their Santa pic. Also everyone that spends $5 purchasing bake sale items, will be able to enter a free drawing for an awesome dessert tray from Around the Clock Catering. There will also be a holiday raffle with the grand prize being a set of custom made Harley Davidson cornhole boards. Many other prizes will be drawn for throughout the day. You do not have to be present to win and members of Cliffords Army will be selling the raffle tickets prior to the event. Anyone who would like to donate a baked good for the event can do so by dropping off at Tractor Supply anytime on Friday, or Saturday morning before 10:00am. Cleveland County's 2nd "Milk Drum Circle"
Cleveland County's 2nd "Milk Drum Circle", Saturday, November 21, 2015, in Shelby, NC, 5:30-6:30pm. SongHarper Music Circles will host a drumming event open to the public called the "Milk Drum Circle." This community-drumming event is a wholesome, family friendly way to create music with people of all ages, backgrounds, and ability levels. There will be a cash 'love offering' collected with the intent to supply perishable items such as milk, orange juice, and baby formula to the local food shelter in Cleveland County! Free event and make music in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. No experience necessary. Professional Drum Circle Facilitator and music educator, Justin Harper, will host the event. There will be some loaner drums available and plenty of extra chairs so bring your drums and bring your family and friends. The event will be in the gym of First Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, located on the corner of North Washington Street and Sumpter Street. Get there as early as 5:00pm to set up. The facilitated drum circle will be 5:30-6:30pm. The parking lot is located across from the entrance. Look for the flagpole to enter the double doors to the gym. Word of Deliverance, Inc., R.O.T.W. Reaching Outside The Walls Ministries, Forest City, NC, will sponsor a "Free Dinner and More", Thursday, November 26, 2015, 9:00am - 11:00am, at Cool Springs Gym, 400 W. Main St., Forest City, NC. Handel's Messiah at Ambassador Baptist College
The public is cordially invited to kick off the Christmas season with Ambassador Baptist College's annual presentation of Handel's Messiah. On Friday, November 27, 2015, and Saturday, November 28, 2015 the college chorale and selected soloists will be singing excerpts from Handel's Messiah, as well as additional Christmas selections. The doors will open each night at 6:15pm and the concert will start at 7:00pm. Both concerts will be held in the R.A. Torrey Auditorium and are free of charge. Selections include "All We Like Sheep," "For Unto Us a Child is Born," "And With His Stripes," and the world-famous Hallelujah Chorus. Please plan to come early since seating is limited. A nursery for young children will be provided. At the conclusion of the concert, a love offering will be received for the student scholarship fund. Ambassador Baptist College is a private, four-year college dedicated to training young people for the ministry.
