What: Ring the Red Kettle Bells for The Salvation Army
More Info: Halloween's a day, but Christmas is a season! A season for giving, a season for helping. The Salvation Army has opportunities to ring the red kettle bells to help your neighbors in need. Consider what you can do this holiday time, what time you can give to help the Army continue in 'Doing the Most Good!" Talk to your family, your prayer group, your Sunday school class, your civic club, your office or factory mates, about forming a bell-ringing team. Then call us at 704-482-0375.
What: Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland County taking Applications
More Info: Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland County is taking applications for its 2019 Homeownership program from November 1 - December 30, 2018. The applicant must be able to pay an affordable house payment, have a need for better housing, must live or work in Cleveland County and must be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity by completing "sweat equity" on their house and by attending Homeowner education classes. Applications and information can be picked up at the Health Department, Shelby Library, Baptist Association on Wyke Road, Social Services or the Habitat ReStore on West Grover Street. If you want to receive an application by mail call the Habitat office at 704-482-6200. Initial applications must be returned between November 1- and December 30 to be considered.

More Info: Friends from Crestview Baptist Church and the community are holding a Spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Melinda Humphries, wife of Jim Humphries and media assistant at Crest Middle School. Melinda is battling cancer for the second time. They are raising money to help pay for the cost of upcoming treatments. Plates are $10 for adults and $5 for children 6 -12 years. What: Kings Mountain Historical Museum 16th Annual Toys, Games & Trains Exhibit

More Info: This annual exhibit fills the Museum with model train displays assembled by local "S" Gaugers, as well as railroad memorabilia, and antique toys and games. Visitors of all ages will be enchanted as they explore the miniature snow-covered scenes that line the tracks, and discover the interactive carousel, hot air balloons, and mailbag pickup. Bring your cameras - this exhibit provides great opportunities for holiday family photos.

What: 2018 Crouse Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary Christmas Parade
When: 1:00 pm, December 1 (Deadline for entries Mon., Nov. 19)
Where: Downtown Crouse, NC
More Info: Spectators are welcome and interested churches, organizations or individuals are urged to submit an application form to enter golf carts, tractors with trailers, floats, lawn mowers with trailers, classic cars, trucks, four wheelers, bicycles, floats, and goats, horses with wagons or buggies and horses with riders. We do ask that business and corporate entities maintain a seasonal atmosphere and play down any commercial aspects. The Santa Claus Float at the end of the parade will be the only Santa Claus in the parade. On parade day all entries will begin lining up at 12:00 noon in Crouse United Methodist Church parking lot located at GPS Address 3311 Crouse School Road, Crouse, NC. With all entries required to be on site by 12:00 and in line by 12:30 pm. All entries must have a holiday theme. No exceptions. Be creative, decorate your entry with a festive holiday theme. Fill out a parade entry form in advance, these can be picked up at the Crouse Fire Department, Crouse Post Office, Mem'ry Lane Antiques & Finds or at the Crouse Community History & Photo Project Office, and return to the Crouse FD. Entry forms can also be filled out the day of the parade but the Ladies Auxiliary prefers having them in advance.
