Hospice Cleveland County
        Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC will be holding the following events in November:
        Hospice Volunteer Training Class: November 6, 1:00-5:00pm or 5:30-9:30pm, at Kings Mountain Hospice House, 321 Kings Mountain Blvd., Kings Mountain, NC. Hospice Training is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice care and the services provided to the community. This 12-hour course is free.         Fall Memorial Service: Sunday, November 9, 2:00pm., at St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church, 116 Poplar Drive, Grover, NC. Patients that have died March 1, 2014 through August 31, 2014 will be remembered. Family members will receive a special invitation.
        Coping with the Holidays - Tuesday, November 11, 11:30am - 1:00pm, at the Hospice Cleveland County Admin. Building. The Holidays can be a very difficult time for those who are grieving. Cleveland County Memorial Library, Shelby
        On November 6, Ron McCollum, Outreach Coordinator with the Foothills Farmer’s Market will share information about Local Foods and big plans for the Market in our community. The Garden Gate on November 20 will feature music and stories by Georgiana Wright. Garden Gate Programs are presented at the library every first and third Thursday from 12:15 to 12:45.  Bag lunches are welcome and beverages are served.
The Cherryville Little Theatre
        The Cherryville Little Theatre announces the upcoming comedy “The Nerd”. Goofiness takes center stage! It’s 1976 and Willum Cubbert has it all - a promising career as an architect, devoted friends, even, maybe, a serious girlfriend.  But then Rick Steadman, the ultimate social misfit, comes to visit and puts everything in peril. The Nerd escalates into madcap farce as Willum tries to out-nerd his sanity-destroying houseguest. Featuring Robert Jenkins, Michael Medlin, Dawn Rickus, Bryan Denton, Jim Champion, Denise McCoy and Noah Neal. Performance Dates are November 7-8, 14-15 at 7:30pm, and November 9 at 3:00pm.         The Broad River Genealogical Society presents: The Excavation of Fort San Juan, at the Indian Village of Joara by John Krebs (Modern-day Morganton, NC), Tuesday, November 9, 3:00pm, at The Neal Senior Center, 100 T.R. Harris Dr., Shelby, NC. Park and enter at the back of the Senior Center). Hear John Krebs discuss the Fort, its history and the excavations and discoveries the archeologists have made.
Cleveland County Veterans Day Program
        The Cleveland County Veterans Advisory Council invites you to the Cleveland County Veterans Day Program on Tuesday, November 11, 11:00am, at the Cleveland County Court Square, Uptown Shelby. This an an annual event with placing of wreathes by representatives of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Amvets Auxiliary, the D.A.V. Auxiliary, the Marine Corps Auxiliary, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Richard McSwain will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and the speaker this year is Dr. Frank Sincox, who served as a navy flight surgeon from 1960-1996. The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department will be posting and retiring colors, and the Gardner-Webb University Concert Choir will provide music. Others on the program include Stan Anthony, Mayor of Shelby; Gary Marburger, Minister of Putnam Baptist Church; and the NC Foothill Detachment, Marine Corp League of Shelby. Honoring all Who Served. Cleveland County Town Hall Meetings
        The Cleveland County Town Hall will meet at the Mason Lodge in Boiling Springs, NC, Tuesday, November 11, 7:00pm. All concerned citizens and teachers, anyone, please attend. Gardner-Webb University’s Theatre Department
        American Idol’s Majesty Rose will be performing a concert at Gardner-Webb University on Saturday, November 15. Majesty Rose was in the top 10 contestants in the competition and has recently returned from the American Idol tour. The proceeds from the concert will go to Justice Ministries in Charlotte. Justice Ministries is an organization that takes girls out of sex trafficking in the Charlotte area and provide them safety and restoration. The price of the concert is $10 for the public and $2 with Gardner-Webb ID. Doors open at 6pm and the concert starts at 7pm.   
        Gardner-Webb University’s Theatre Arts Department is proud to present: Getting Out November 19-22, 7:30pm and November 23, 2:30pm, Millennium Playhouse, Gardner-Webb University, 110 South Main St., Boiling Springs, NC. Marsha Norman’s play Getting Out is set today in Louisville, Kentucky. When released from prison Arlene returns to a run-down apartment, intent on starting her life over. Rebellious and disruptive as a young girl, she has found strength in religion and wants to put her youth behind her. Holiday Bazaar Township 3 Rams
       Holiday Bazaar Township 3 Rams will be hosting their second annual Holiday Bazaar Thursday, November 20 from 3:00-7:00 in the main lobby and hall. All profits made at the Bazaar go to their Social Worker Fund. (The fund is for clothing, school supplies, food, field trips, and any special student/family needs.) Cash sales are preferred but checks will be accepted. It will be individual vendor sales and money collection. The Bazaar is FREE entry fee!
Fiddlers’ and Ellenboro Bluegrass Convention

Ambassador Baptist College, Lattimore
       You are cordially invited to kick off the Christmas season with Ambassador Baptist College’s annual presentation of “A Christmas Concert featuring Handel’s Messiah.” On Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29, the college chorale and selected soloists will be singing excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, as well as additional Christmas selections. The doors will open at 6:15pm each night and the concert will start at 7:00pm. Both concerts will be held in the R.A. Torrey Auditorium and are free of charge. 17th Annual Earl Christmas Parade

        All Area Churches are invited to participate, promote and help celebrate “Joy to the World”. Cleveland County Arts Council, Shelby
       The Cleveland County Arts Council is pleased to announce private instruction for artists to improve their painting or drawing skills. Steven Greenway wants to help you build your skills in one-on-one or small group sessions. These special instructive sessions are held at the Cleveland County Arts Council by appointment. Sessions are 1-1/2 hours long with individual instruction. Bring your own art materials and samples of your work. The Artist, Steven Greenway has his MFA in Fine Arts from the Otis Art Institute. His experience includes book illustrations, graphic design, teaching, and private art instruction. He was employed as  the art director for Clyde A Short and McDowell Technical Community College. Private or Group Drawing and Painting Sessions with Steven Greenway. Individual: $30 per session or $80 for three sessions. Groups 2 – 4: $20 per session per person or $55 per person for three sessions as a group.

       PWP meets every Monday night at 7:00 pm. at the Shelby Presbyterian Church for educational programs and at other times as scheduled for monthly social activities including: dances, plays, and concerts.
